Designed by the legendary studio guru, Russ Berger exclusively for Auralex Acoustics, the SpaceCoupler can optimize acoustical environments for a wide range of performance and recording styles. Essentially, the SpaceCoupler, which is a 24×24-inch solid wood panel, works by providing an acoustical boundary interaction between loosely coupled spaces, thus generating a low-level reverberant tail. To which you say, “Huh?” Okay, in plain English, what this means is that small pro studios – or even home project studios – won’t have to knock out a wall just to get a good room sound. In the past, engineers had to constantly tweak effects to try and simulate the sound of a larger acoustical space. The SpaceCoupler works by using waveguide design technology, which is the basically the science of sound energy redirection. It’s the easiest, most cost-effective way to put performers into an acoustically rich sonic environment. It has the added benefit of sounding very natural, unlike many DSP effects.
