The IEEE 802.1 Audio Video Bridging (AVB) standard is an ultra-high-speed, near-zero-latancy Gigabit Ethernet protocol specifically engineered for digital audio and video. It maintains the full quality of encoded audio and video and supports nanosecond sync accuracy, regardless of network activity. AVB networks use standard Cat 5e or Cat 6 cables for connections spanning thousands of feet (up to 3,280 feet) and multiple AVB devices can be connected via AVB switches.
