Using Audio DAT Recorders To Backup Data

From inSync reader Dr. Steve K:

“I have a quickie question for you that no one has been able to answer. I recently bought a Gina card and was wondering… I would like to use my DAT for data backup from the hard drive. It seems simple enough, right? I have digital ins and outs into the computer and DAT, so can I use these to send data to the DAT machine? If so, what software might be helpful in this endeavor? Do I need additional hardware? Thanks a million in advance.”

Thanks for your question Steve. We’re not aware of a software package that will perform the data backup function you mentioned. Sorry, your best bet at this point is probably a more “traditional” computer backup solution (removable media drives, CD-R, etc.).
