Artificial Reverb

Any reverb that is generated in a purpose-built space, or by a purpose-built device or algorithm, is considered artificial reverb. Bill Putnam, Sr., among his other audio inventions, is credited with creating one of the first purpose-built echo chambers out of a studio bathroom in 1947. Today, most artificial reverbs are digital reverb algorithms found in software or hardware effects processors.
