Three years ago, many critics believed Apple’s iTunes Music Store was an accident waiting to happen. Now the company has already reached a phenomenal milestone with the one billionth (that’s billion with a “b”) download! Alex Ostrovsky from West Bloomfield, Michigan was the grand prize winner when he downloaded “Speed of Sound” which is part of Coldplay’s “X&Y” album and turned out to be the billionth overall download. Alex will receive a 20″ iMac, 10 5th-generation iPods and a $10,000 gift card good for any items on the iTunes Music Store. In addition, Apple will establish a scholarship to the world-renowned Juilliard School of Music in his name to commemorate this milestone.
