Q: “Do all computer audio interfaces include microphone preamps?”
A: Many computer audio interfaces, though not all, feature one, two, or more microphone preamps. Most of those also include Phantom power for use with condenser microphones. This allows you to plug your microphone(s) directly into the interface, saving you from having to purchase a mixer or outboard microphone preamp. For those who already own a mixer or outboard preamps, there are several interfaces that offer multiple inputs without preamplification. In these instances, the audio interface will usually offer line level audio inputs.
