Just in from Alesis is the CLX-440, their awesome dual-channel compressor/limiter/expander that combines separate compression and expansion sections for each stereo channel, with “look-ahead” capability, side-chain and “key” functions, continuously-variable soft/hard knee and peak/RMS controls, and much more. Not only is the sound great, but operation is incredibly simple. The insides may be digital, but the package is all analog, with 2 sets of dedicated controls, one knob per function. And the price is nice, too.
