“I just downloaded Aardvark’s USB3 ASIO drivers for Mac, but there aren’t any instructions for how to use it. Help! Also, does it work with OS X?”
The current driver (released in July), is compatible with OS9.1 or 9.2 only. Earlier versions, or OSX are not supported. Here’s how to get it going.
1. The file you download should be called “usb3_asio_mac3”
2. Expand the file with Stuffit expander. This is commonly found in, Applications >>> Aladdin Folder >> Stuffit Expander (folder). If you don’t have expander, you can download it from www.aladdinsys.com
3. Expanding the file “usb3_asio_mac3” should create a new folder called “Aardvark”. The contents of the folder will be “Aardvark USB 3 ASIO” and “PGAardvarkUSB3”
4. Drag “PGAardvarkUSB3” into the Extensions folder, located inside the System Folder.
5. Drag “Aardvark USB 3 ASIO” into the “ASIO Drivers” folder in your Sequencing/Recording application’s folder. For example, drag the file into: Macintosh HD >>> Digital Performer 3.0 folder >>> ASIO Drivers.
6. Launch your application, and set its audio hardware to use ASIO USB3.
