New in stock at Sweetwater Sound: Frontier Design has delivered our first batch of the new Wavecenter/PCI recording system. The affordable new ADAT digital lightpipe card for Windows and Macintosh computers combines eight channels of lightpipe I/O, two channels of S/PDIF, and a 2×2 MIDI interface on one compact PCI card. We’ve tested these and verified that they do work on mother boards with AMD K6 chips as well as all popular Intel and Macintosh models. You will need to supply your own D/A converter though. Any DAT machine or CDR will do. Retail price $389.
Sweetwater is lowering the price of Digidesign’s Sample Cell II PCI cards. These are a phenomenal value for a good sampler that doesn’t require any significant computer overhead to operate. If you are thinking of buying a sample playback platform you ought to check these out. Even if you don’t have a computer to put one in you can still do the whole deal (computer and all) for prices competitive with most samplers, and the user interface is phenomenal.
