I have never been a synth guy. With that said, I love The Evolver Keyboard. I say that I have not been a ‘synth’ guy because with most synthesizers there is a pretty steep learning curve for someone just getting their feet wet. Dave Smith really hit it with the ‘knob per function’ layout. No long menus to scroll through selecting and assigning parameters. This is a hop-right-in-and-start-creating piece of equipment. It comes fully loaded with 512 presets including some sequences that might sound familiar to you.
One of the best attributes of The Evolver Keyboard is that it is an analog/digital hybrid. The warmth and body of 2 analog oscillators matched with 2 digital oscillators and an abundance of DSP makes for the most unique sounds out there. Did I mention that there is a honest to goodness analog Low Pass Filter?
The Dave Smith Evolver Keyboard is a monophonic dream come true. It is super-easy to use, yet gives you all the versatility and control that even a seasoned synth pro can appreciate. Pick one up and be prepared to have to be torn away from this aural delight.
