A unit of current, meaning the amount of electricity that is flowing through a conductor. One Ampere is equal to the flow of 6.25 x 1018 electrons through a conductor in one second. By definition, one Ampere of current will flow through a conductor when an Electromotive Force (EMF) of 1 Volt is placed across a resistance of 1 Ohm. An example: a 1-Volt battery is connected to a wire, positive to one end, and negative to the other, and the wire between the two connections has a resistance of 1 Ohm. The current flow through the wire would be I Ampere.
