In keeping with our Word For The Day, a few points on monitor speaker placement: Placing a monitor in the proximity of a wall results in a 3 dB bass boost, in a corner gives a 6 dB bass boost, and at the juncture of a corner and the ceiling a 9 dB bass boost. Keeping in mind that 6 dB is a doubling of the perceived volume, it quickly becomes obvious how important it is to carefully place your speakers with regard to reflective surfaces!
