Today’s tip is for those PC users out there whose built-in biological RAM is corrupted or failing…
On most PCs, CMOS will allow a security password in order to keep unauthorized people from changing important settings. The problem is if you forget your password you can’t get back into CMOS!
Solution:
- Remove the battery from the motherboard for 5 minutes. (This erases all CMOS memory)
- If the battery is difficult to get at and/or remove, you might have success shorting out the batteries leads from + to -. (Not for the inexperienced or faint of heart – ask for help if you are at all unsure of how to do this!)
NOTE: This will erase all settings for hard drive parameters. Be sure you know the parameters settings so you can re-enter them if your BIOS is not self-sensing. We highly recommend that you have an experienced PC tech help you do this if you’re not absolutely sure what’s going on!
