After our recent Tech Tip on IDE drives with Apple computers a few readers responded to inquire about IDE drive suitability with digital audio programs like Pro Tools and StudioVision.
Our experience has been that they work fairly well. There are certainly no problems like them not being recognized or anything like that. For serious Pro Tools users you are going to want to get a Fast/Wide SCSI adapter in you Mac if you want to do 24 or more tracks. The same principles hold true for most of the sequencing/audio programs as well. The more throughput you can afford, the better off you will be, but the IDE drives that come stock in the G3 computers are working fine.
