I‘m having trouble with sounds I download from the Sweetwater website for my Kurzweil. Some of them show up as two files intended for two floppy disks. However, when I make disks out of them the second disk never works. I get a message saying “this is not disk 2.” What’s wrong?”
When the sounds are downloaded to your computer hard drive they are given label extensions of .KR1, .KR2, .KR3, etc. The purpose of this is to keep them from overwriting each other on your hard drive (files in the same directory of any drive must all have unique names). However, in order for them to work in the Kurzweil each disk of a multi-floppy set must have exactly the same name. So, as you write those files to floppy you need to change all those extensions to .KRZ and make sure the rest of the file name is exactly the same. That way the Kurzweil will recognize the second disk as part of the same sound it just loaded from the first disk.
