Yamaha’s MOTIF keyboards have really taken off and become accepted among musicians as powerful instruments bringing great new sounds and capabilities to the music making process. In short, we’re selling a ton of them. With lots of sales comes a heightened awareness of particular areas of misunderstanding or confusion among customers. The following tip, provided by the excellent Sweetwater Technical Support staff, should help resolving one of those common areas of confusion.
The MOTIF is loaded with a wealth of settings such as Voice, Pattern, Performance and Song settings. The Master function was made to help organize your most popular settings into one group since a Master memory can consist of a Voice, Pattern, Performance or Song setting. Initializing a Master memory resets the selected User Master Settings to the default values. This function can also initialize common settings for each zone or all settings for a single zone within a User Master Setting. Here’s how to do it.
1) Press the [MASTER] button to enter the Master mode.
2) Press the [JOB] button to enter Master Job mode.
3) Select the Initialize function by pressing the [F1] button.
4) Select one of the following by using the buttons.
a) All
b) Common
c) Zone
5) Press the [ENTER] button. The screen will display a prompt ‘Are you sure?’
6) Select one of the following:
a) Press the [INC/YES] button to execute the Job. After the Job has been finished, ‘Completed’ is displayed momentarily.
(CAUTION: For Jobs that take longer to process, the screen will display the message ‘Executing’. If the power is switched OFF while this message is displayed, there is a risk of corrupting the data.)
OR b) Press the [DEC/NO] button to cancel the Job.
1] Press the [MASTER] button to exit from Master Job mode and return to Master mode.
