Transferring Large Files in OS X

Digital recording has made music production a global event. You can work on a song in the States, and send the session files to a friend in Japan for mixing, adding instruments, etc. The most common method of sending such files is email, but most email servers won’t accept attachments larger than a few megabytes, which means that audio will either have to be sent a track at a time, or compressed to be sent via email. However you can use iChat to send your files, no matter how big they are. Simply start an iChat session with the person you’re sending the files to, and go to the Buddies menu and choose File. Find the file you need to send, and click OK. The person on the other end will see a link to the file download appear in their iChat window. The files can then be downloaded and imported into their DAW.
