No matter how fast your Mac is, there will be times when you give it a task that’s going to take a while longer than you’ll want to sit and wait. Compressing an iMovie project into a QuickTime movie might be one example. In OS X 10.4.7 – that’s the latest version of OS X “Tiger” – you can start compressing, then go check your e-mail or browse the Sweetwater Web site, or whatever. The application you’re using (in this case, iMovie) will have a bar appear directly below its icon in the Dock that will show you the progress of your particular task.
