You’ve just come up with a great idea for a song and want to lay down tracks before the inspiration leaves you. But wait! The strings on your guitar were ready to be changed, but you had other priorities, and forgot to order a new set from Sweetwater. Now what?
In a pinch, you can restore much of the brightness of your guitar’s strings by boiling them. That’s right, put them in a pot of water and bring to a boil. A few minutes should do the trick. Pour out the water and let the strings cool down a little, then place them on a dry towel. In about an hour, you can put them back on your guitar and hit the record button! This is not recommended for nylon strings.
