Q: What should I do if I have a broken, lost or stolen iLok?
A: If you have a Pace iLok that no longer lights up or is otherwise broken, or if your iLok has been lost and isn’t ever expected to be found, or if it’s been stolen, you should file an RMA (returned merchandise authorization) at the iLok site Support page.
Be sure that the iLok is completely non-functional or gone for good and not just missing, as you can’t “undo” this report if your iLok later turns up under the couch. A found or stolen iLok will erase itself if anyone ever tries to connect it to an iLok.com account. A broken iLok must be sent to PACE as part of the RMA process.
PACE/iLok.com will send your RMA info to all manufacturers that had licenses on your iLok. You can then contact the manufacturers associated with your licenses and many will issue replacement licenses that can be downloaded to a new iLok. There are some manufacturers that have policies against replacing licenses on stolen iLoks and expect you to cover them with your insurance company.
PACE sells Zero DownTime protection, which reinstates your license immediately while you work out replacement licenses with manufacturers.
Waves has their own Theft & Loss Coverage (TLC) Plan designed to safeguard licenses by forcing re-authorization of the license every three months.
