Q: Is there a way to send the same stereo signal to two pairs of outputs on the RME Fireface UCX at the same time? I need to route the same signal to monitors and to a hardware recorder.
A: Yes, there are a few ways to do this. One easy way is to use the TotalMix control software/console that came with your Fireface UCX. Under the Function menu, select Matrix. In this view, you will see a matrix of all the inputs — both hardware inputs and returns from your DAW or other software — and outputs. By working within the matrix, you can set up whatever routing you want. Simply double-click so that both Outs 1 and 2 and Outs 3 and 4 are receiving the signal from Pb1 and Pb2 (listed in the vertical column on the right of the matrix.
This will route the main stereo output from your software simultaneously out of two stereo pairs (1+2 and 3+4) for routing to your monitors and stereo recorder.
