Tailor-made for Traveling Musicians

Thanks to its patented removable neck system, the OC660M nylon-string acoustic-electric guitar collapses into a size that's tailor-made for airline carry-on compartments. Its temperature-resistant carbon fiber construction prevents cracking and warping no matter where you take it. Despite its small comfortable body, the Overhead Crossover Classical delivers a clear, resonant tone with surprising volume and projection. Its Scoop-away provides easy access to all 17 frets. Experience accurate amplification, thanks to a proprietary under-saddle transducer pickup. The Journey Instruments OC660M Overhead also includes a premium-grade bone nut and saddle, along with ebony bridge pins.

Patented removable neck is designed for travel

The OC660M Overhead from Journey Instruments was built for travel. Thanks to its patented removable neck system, Journey Instruments' Overhead travel guitar can be assembled and disassembled in a matter of seconds. It collapses to a size that can be carried-on to most commercial airplanes, and it fits into most overhead bin compartments. The Overhead Crossover Classical comes with a travel backpack that includes a TSA-compliant laptop/tablet fold-out panel that can be scanned by airport security without removing the device.

A travel-sized body with full-sized tone

The OC660M Overhead exhibits wedge design with a lower shoulder/bout depth that's deeper than a dreadnought. It's this innovative shape that allows such a small instrument to produce such unbelievable volume and projection. This guitar's offset soundhole maximizes the resonance of its soundboard, while proprietary bracing ensures a gratifying tone with incredible clarity. A bone nut, compensated bone saddle, and ebony bridge pins complete this guitar's tonal picture.

Ready for the stage

Not only will the Journey Instruments OC660M nylon-string acoustic become your favorite travel companion, but with its onboard under-bridge transducer pickup system, it also makes the perfect performing partner. And it couldn't be easier to use. Simply plug into a DI, acoustic amplifier, or preamp of your choice, and you'll be greeted with warm and natural acoustic guitar tones every time. Guitarists at Sweetwater have traveled across the country with Journey instruments, and they couldn't be more satisfied with the experience.

Reviews

Not just an excellent travel guitar, but an excellent guitar!
Based on reviews, I expected this to be a good travel guitar; good construction, tone, etc., but what I wasn't expecting was for it to become my new go-to sofa guitar. The body size and shape, along with it's super-durable construction, make it the perfect guitar that never gets put away, but gets played constantly.
My only criticism is the width of the neck: this is a classical guitar, so a 1 7/8" neck is a little narrow for it's designed purpose (should be 2"), but otherwise, if you're looking for a great kickaround guitar that also happens to be a very comfortable player and unbelievably travel-ready, this is the guitar for you.
Journey Travel Guitar
I've had a OC660M guitar for several months so it's pretty well broken in. This is not a classical guitar; the neck feels and plays like a standard acoustic. I'm impressed by this guitar's tone and volume. The piezo pickup does a great job plugged into an amp; lots of bass. The body thickness is very unusual. I need to put a spacer between my chest and the upper back of the guitar. Otherwise the face of the guitar falls too far back toward my chest. See pictures. I'd redesign the guitar's body to correct this shortcoming if I worked at Journey. The guitar arrived with fishhook sharp fret ends. A file for correcting this should have been included in the shipment. I'm amazed that these frets were allowed to leave the factory. And Sweetwater's 55 point inspection must have been only 54 points for this instrument. The neck is easy on and off. Feels like a rock solid attachment. I filed down the smaller bridge saddle to lower the action to my taste. Restrung with my favorite nylon strings. This guitar sounds and plays great. It's not perfect but I like the way it plays. Glad I bought it !!!
Music background: Extensive
Great travel guitar
This guitar is great for bringing with you and not having to worry about temperature changes.
Music background: 2nd year guitar student
AWFUL.
My Degree is in Classical Guitar Performance. I taught Classical & Jazz Guitar at a major university. I perform commercially. I'm not a Guitar Snob. I just wanted a modest instrument that would work on certain types of jobs. I didn't expect it to be great. I thought I could "dial-in" an acceptable sound with my Fishman Platinum Preamp.
NOTHING I did worked. This Guitar is AWFUL. I'm returning it.
