Iconic Ring Modulation for the Modern Player

Today’s guitar players and synthesists have more sonic options than ever before. Now, the Red Panda Radius ring modulator/frequency shifter pedal offers an updated take on the classic synthesizer effect. This pedal has a new “eight-quadrant multiplier” algorithm that enables the pedal to provide ring modulation that seamlessly transitions to frequency shifting as you go. Pair the eight-quadrant multiplication with spot-on tracking and the versatile LFO, and you’ve got a recipe for sonic success. The Radius offers four onboard preset slots with a total of 100 recallable presets via USB MIDI control. And, because it can handle both line- and instrument-level sources, the Radius can handle guitar, bass, synths, stage pianos, and more. Choose the Red Panda Radius and explore the most modern take on ring modulation yet.

Smoothly transitions from ring modulation to frequency shifting

The secret behind the Radius’ smooth functionality is what Red Panda calls an “eight-quadrant multiplier” algorithm. It seamlessly blends between the ring modulation and frequency shifting, so you can modulate your signal however you want. The algorithm also allows for different frequency ratios for the upper and lower harmonics, opening the door to a world of tonal experimentation. Bell-like brilliance, old-school metallic textures, frequency shifting, gentle tremolo, and bubbly phasing — the Radius pedal can do it all and then some.

Advanced LFO and MIDI control

Aside from the ring mod and frequency shifting, the Radius features an advanced LFO. You get triangle, square, and random waveforms, plus an 8-step sequencer to take your sound to the next level. There’s also an envelope follower to make the pedal ultra-responsive to playing dynamics. What’s more, the Radius offers MIDI control via USB or the TRS jack. With MIDI, you get access to 96 more preset slots for 100 total recallable presets. How’s that for versatile?

Not just for guitar

While the Radius’ pedalboard-friendly footprint is great for guitar players, anyone can use it. Red Panda designed this pedal for use with any signal you can create. It’s compatible with both instrument- and line-level signals, which gives you the freedom to use your Radius pedal with synths, keyboards, and basses. Red Panda also tells Sweetwater that the Radius can handle line-level signals up to a whopping +8dBu. That means you can use the pedal to modify and transform any signal onstage, in the studio, and beyond.

Reviews

So Versatile

Honestly, I had no idea how useful this pedal would be. I originally picked it up just to experiment with guitar sound design, but it's turned into so much more than that.

It's become my go-to for phaser and tremolo, but it goes way beyond basic effects. With the built-in LFO control, I can have the trem or phase respond to my playing—speeding up or slowing down based on how hard I hit the strings. It feels incredibly expressive and musical.

I've also been using subtle ring modulation paired with fuzz to create some really wild lead tones. The ability to tune the ring modulation to the pitch of the guitar is a great feature, and even when it's not perfectly locked in, the in-between sounds are super fun to explore.

On top of that, I've built a few presets that lean into more synth-like, experimental textures—just weird, creative stuff that keeps inspiring me. I could honestly keep going.

Don't overlook this pedal. Red Panda is making some of the most innovative gear out there right now, and somehow it's still very user-friendly.

It's not just a ring modulator...
Admittedly, this is a 'first blush' review, but I'm completely taken with this pedal! I can see an artist using this as a foundational pedal for their own, personalized sound.

I love ring modulators, but this is SO much more than a ring modulator. It does frequency shifting as well, and includes an LFO.

As a ring modulator, it's easily the most musical I've yet played (and I've owned a few). You can get everything from the complete chaos of a traditional ring mod to ethereal, musical bell-like tones.
