PG-14 Rated for Scorching High-octane

Few things are as enjoyable as rocking out through a dimed guitar amplifier, and thanks to its FET-based circuitry, the JHS PG-14 delivers that exact sensation. Designed to the exact specifications of guitar virtuoso Paul Gilbert (Racer X and Mr. Big), the PG-14 gives you a stadium-level experience — the touch, feel, and response of a pushed tube amplifier — at manageable volumes. The PG-14 gives you a bevy of sound-shaping controls, but this distortion stompbox’s crown jewel is its active mid-frequency preamp. With it, you’ll benefit from a vast range of sonic options. If you want to add a scorching, high-octane dirt channel to your rig, the JHS PG-14 is a great way to do it.

A bevy of controls for dialing in your dirt tone

Carving out your ideal dirt tone is easy with the JHS PG-14. Volume and Tone controls enable you to decide how much you want to punish the front end of your amp and then dial in your basic sonic signature. An active mid-frequency preamp in front of the PG-14’s FET distortion circuitry allows you to sculpt your guitar’s voice with exacting precision. Finally, Drive and Push controls adjust your gain level while replicating the performance of a pushed-to-the-brink tube amp. Paul Gilbert is a longtime friend of ours here at Sweetwater, and we’re stoked to be able to offer his signature distortion pedal — it’s one of our favorite dirt boxes. Plug in, and you’ll understand why!

Reviews

Unique and versatile
This is one of my favorite JHS pedals ( I love JHS)If you are looking forward to emulate some amp tone in your mind, better get a pedal that offers that feature. This pedal can be tight, fussy or subtle. Perfect for hard rock chops, heavy leads with a way!!

not your avarege overdrive or distortio, let me explain
im runing through a telecaster to a fender blues jr at the clean channel. i expirianced really experimenting with this pedal alot heres a good tip with any pedal, set you volume to noon when you start fluxing with the knobs. this is indeed a fuzz but can also be a overdrive when you alow only the push knob to be present in the od channel. it does give your strat a thraty honkey tone indeed. i love runing this pedal in light crunch thats why i love it. try it out and keep trying to get a use out of it
Music background: metal, dirty blues, alternative
Great drive tones and extremely versatile
My only complaint with this pedal would be that I couldn't decide on which of the great tonal variations I wanted to commit to. This pedal has never ended up on my board because I prefer to keep it for recording where I can more easily use more of its range.

It does drive, distortion and even fuzz tones so well. I think it really shines as a heavy overdrive into a clean-ish amp, but the distortion tones are also great. It conjures the vibes of many classic gain effects but keeps an original character all its own while doing it.
The Benchmark
Simply the best distortion/fuzz/overdrive pedal I have ever used. And I have used a lot. The mojo is in the FET, push, drive, and parametric EQ. Took me less than a minute to dial in the tone I wanted. Very versatile. I did not find it noisy at all. Just be careful with the drive and push (do not need much). I am in playing through a Gibson LP Jr and ESP Eclipse II into an Orange. My dirt pedal search is over. I was initially looking for a parametric EQ only until I ran into the Sweetwater and YouTube video with Paul Gilbert. I highly recommend watching both videos prior to purchasing this pedal. A special thanks to Brendan Murphy at Sweetwater as he has been good to me over the years.
Versatile Distortion Pedal
I should have bought this pedal a long time ago. I've been pleasantly surprised at the versatility of this pedal. This pedal has made its way on my board. Thanks to Connor Smith at SW for always being there to answer any questions I might have regarding guitars, pedals and amps.
