The Vintage Sound of a Tube Amp Pushed to its Limits!

The rich, fat, dynamic overdrive of this stompbox produces distortion that is miles warmer (and somehow more "natural") than the harsh buzzsaw distortion of many effects pedals. With the OD-3 OverDrive, guitarists get an expanded range of smooth overdrive tones and improved response.

My always on overdrive pedal
For a while I simply hadn't explored this pedal fully, but once I did I was hooked. I had an SD-1 also, but for my preferred tone I didn't like the mid hump it had so it was sold. The OD-3 sits right where I want it to. Great pedal.
Most slept on Overdrive.
I feel BOSS get's a bad rap because for those like me who were just starting when they first played one usually had a budget guitar and a budget amp to pair.

Fast forward nearly two decades later and I find myself with this pedal complimenting a good guitar and a good amp on nearly every studio recording or live event situation. Pairing BOSS with high quality gear ensures you truly get the BOSS sound, and BOSS rarely ever misses.

I fear this is one of their most slept on effects pedals to date.

Orange pedal for an Orange Amp

So what I was trying to achieve is having my Rockverb set on the Dirty Channel with just a bit of grit. Think beggining of Take me Down. Then kick this in for some Chug. Works perfectly. Pedal is transparent. W

I'll leave pics on my amp and bo set up. Disregard the Pedal Baby in the pic. I use that for modeling.

Wish I knew sooner
Recently bought one of these when I heard it was similar to the Blues Driver. I use the BD2 as an edge of break up stage, with the gain down completely, because I love that it is relatively transparent across the spectrum. So many overdrive pedals either add low end or filter it out, and I have been looking for a good mid gain overdrive that didn't mess with the fullness of my basic sound. The OD3 fills this role perfectly. On its own and set the same, it seems to be a bit darker in tone than the BD2, and it's a bit dirtier too. But since I leave my BD2 on all the time, they compensate and pair well together. I had been using a Tone City Sweet Cream for my mid gain stage, and was mostly happy with the sound. But the Sweet Cream filters the low end, and the OD3 does not. If only Boss made this as a mini pedal! Why doesn't Boss make mini versions of their pedals?

OD3 or OG?
This drive is AMAZING! The warmest, naturalist, I hate saying this, Organic Drive Boss makes! A beautiful warm, fat sound with light drive settings. Like 9 o'clock to 7 o'clock settings. At noon, this thing sings. A great rock/hard rock sound. Lots of sweet grind. At 3 o'clock it sounds like tubes being cooked! And if you dime it. Screams like you just won the lottery! Amazing pedal to say the least.

A great drive for most music. Built like a tank and well worth the $ for it. Just buy it dude! You won't regret it
