A Decades Beloved Tonewood Combo

Players looking for a vintage styled guitar just found their muse. The Recording King Tonewood Reserve 328 000 from Sweetwater shows just what hand-selected tonewoods can do for acoustic sound. Strum these strings for the taste of a tonewood combination, all-solid Adirondack spruce and rosewood, that has served its beloved sound to musicians for decades. A rosewood fingerboard and a mahogany neck up the playability levels with comfort that keeps your hands glued to the guitar. If the gorgeous grain on the Tonewood Reserve 328 000 doesn’t captivate your audience, the tone certainly will.

It's all about the tonewoods

Built with classic style in mind, the Tonewood Reserve 328 000 offers players no-compromise, all-solid tonewoods that boast sterling sound. It all starts with the solid Adirondack spruce top that sings with powerful fundamental tones and excellent projection while remaining stiff and lightweight. Next, solid rosewood back and sides add lush warmth and rich resonance. What’s more, X-bracing under the spruce top adds extra resonance and sustain to the instrument. Coupled together, these tonewoods will enrich powerful chords with plenty of volume; meanwhile, your fingerpicking will sound articulate without harshness.

The cherries on top

Run your fingers across the fingerboard and you’ll love the feel of its smooth rosewood and medium frets. Also, beneath the rosewood lies a mahogany neck with a Thin "V"-shaped carve that will keep your fretting hand happy all gig long. Other appointments like a bone nut and saddle and Open Gear Butterbean tuners keep the strings anchored and tuned to perfection. Lastly, the Tonewood Reserve 328 000’s rosette design and lovely binding serve as the cherry on top, completing that completes the traditional look and bespeaks delightful tone.

Amazing Guitar
This guitar is one of the best I've played. Amazing response, perfect neck, and downright beautiful. My sales engineer gave me a great deal and was very informative!
Amazing Value
These vintage styled Recording King guitar models (RD-318 [Dreadnought], RO-318 [OOO], RD-328, and RO-328 models) might just be the best value in acoustic guitars today. Can you even imagine finding a OOO or dreadnought (D18 or D28) model with Adirondack/Rosewood for under a grand? It's unheard of! Sorry, but I can't afford to pay 3x as much for the name! This guitar sings with sustain and lush overtones just as I'd hoped for. The neck and frets are great, and I love the vintage open gear tuners. They do stay in tune. The guitar neck does have a vintage V shape to it, but it's easy to play and smooth. My only complaints are the finish on the back of the neck (I prefer a satin unfinished neck feel) and maybe the finish around the sound hole. It was a pleasure dealing with Chad. Sweetwater did a great setup and installed a new set of strings. This thing sounded perfect out of the box. I'm very glad that I made this purchase!
Scratches the Martin itch
While I am not a banjo player i know a few and they all seem to be very impressed with RK's banjos, especially for the money. As i was in the market for a new guitar, I started shopping around. I pretty much had a Martin in mind, and was prepared to pay the martin price tag. And then i stumbled across a video by J.P. Cormier on YouTube. He had high praise for the RK guitars. So then i started looking around more for reviews from others and they all seemed to love them. I have always had dreadnoughts and figured id like to try a 000 body guitar so I went with the RO328. And I gotta say, I love this thing. This is my first venture into a solid rosewood back and sides and I couldnt be happier. The fit and finish is great (although the poly is just a tad heavy, but not as bad as my Epiphone Masterbuilt). It plays well and I am really digging the V neck after just a few hours of playing. And the tone, unbelievable. I dont care if it costs $300 or $3000 it just sounds amazing. It just has the tone and feel of a vintage high end instrument. And it projects surprisingly well for its size, as well. I like it so much I just ordered the RD328 too. You cant go wrong with this one.
RK RO-328
I recently purchased this guitar from Sweetwater Music in Fort Wayne, Indiana. As usual my purchase experience was exemplary. The staff goes out of their way to make your buying experience very pleasurable. Now to the review of the Recording King RO-328. Right out of the box it was ready to play. The looks are stunning and the sound is very pleasurable to hear. The solid Adirondack top and solid Rosewood back and sides were top notch looking. Ordinarily the Adirondack Tops are used on the High-Dollar guitars by the other big name companies. The playability of this guitar is easy and smooth due to the "V" shaped Mahogany neck. It gives that vintage feel while playing this guitar. My only complaint would be there was no case with this guitar, that had to be purchased separately. If you are looking for a very good quality guitar and you are on a limited budget this is the guitar for you. I highly recommend this guitar. I wouldn't be afraid to play this guitar on a stage or in a small venue with the right set-up.

My R0-328
I REALLY like this guitar. The features you get with this guitar are usually on a more expensive guitar. So for the price you are getting a LOT of guitar. The solid Adirondack top coupled with solid Rosewood back and sides are usually reserved for guitars that are far more expensive. The quality of the build of this guitar is pretty darn good for this price range. I just wish that Recording King would put a thinner finish on the guitar especially the top so it could vibrate more. Other than that the finish is flawless. The sound is very pleasant to the ears, has plenty of resonance and tone. My only real complaint and only 4 and a half star rating is that it doesn't come with any kind of case. If you are on a budget this guitar is the one to buy, you won't be sorry. I highly recommend this guitar to anyone wanting a quality guitar at a very affordable price. My sales consultant Brian was as usual, very helpful in my purchasing process. It's ALWAYS a pleasure to purchase from Sweetwater, always have been treated well. Look very much forward doing business again with Sweetwater. I'm a Sweetwater customer for life!
