A One-of-a-kind Masterwork Straight from the NAMM Show
Fresh from Spector’s NAMM showcase, this Spector USA NS-5 wields a world-class array of premium tonewoods. In fact, this NS-5 has the distinction of being the first Spector USA instrument built with a through-body ash neck. Mated to flame ash wings, this prestigious tonewood arrangement resounds with a lively and sustain-rich response — it’s the perfect sonic framework for this USA NS-5’s twin Aguilar AG 5J-HC pickups. Plug in, and these noise-canceling split-coils deliver time-honored J-style grit, growl, and punch with pure, hum-free performance. Plus, a medium 32-inch scale length ensures smooth, slinky navigation of the 16-inch-radius rosewood fingerboard’s 22 medium-jumbo frets. A collection of high-end hardware rounds out this USA NS-5 with road-ready reliability, including a top-shelf Spector bridge, Gotoh tuning machines, and a clarity-enhancing brass nut. A one-of-a-kind 5-string of the highest order, this Spector USA NS-5’s exquisite artistry and superior playability make for an heirloom-grade addition to any collection.

Noise-canceling Aguilar split-coil pickups
A premium set of AG 5J-HC pickups grants this Spector USA NS-5 a classic J-style growl — all without a hint of 60-cycle hum. Instead of a typical single-coil design, these pickups utilize a split-coil construction that eliminates noise while preserving the deep lows, gritty midrange, and crisp definition of a classic J-style bass. You also get the classic control setup of a single Tone knob and per-pickup Volume controls to blend between both split-coils. Factor in this NS-5’s sustain-rich neck-through-body design, and you get a bass that’s equally at home dishing out funky fingerstyle lines, percussive slap pieces, and even warm, vintage-inspired thump.

The bass that fits like a glove
Stuart Spector (with the input of Ned Steinberger) developed the sleekly sculpted NS body design in 1977, prioritizing the player's comfort for possibly the first time in the history of the bass guitar. Players quickly took note, with iconic bassists such as Garry Tallent, Ian Hill, Rudy Sarzo, and countless others taking to the stage with Spector basses. This iconic body style feels supremely comfortable against your body and arm. Immediately recognizable with its rounded contours that resemble a worn bar of soap, the NS body shape hugs your torso and balances perfectly, whether you’re playing seated, standing, or prancing about the stage like a wild antelope! At Sweetwater, we’ve seen it time and again: once you play an NS bass, you’re hooked.
