Huge array of tones on tap
MIke Watt is a legend in the punk and rock underground for his both his aggressive, funk-inspired play and his positive attitude — both of which have fueled his unique style. On the Minutemen's classic 1984 LP, Double Nickels on the Dime, listeners can hear the jubilant, percussive attack Watt employs. To tap that distinct tone, Reverend outfitted the Wattplower with two P-blade bridge pickups and one Rio Grande Pitbull in the neck position. The P-blades deliver classic P-style tone but with a bump in volume, sustain, clarity, and an extended low end response; the Rio Grande Pitbull is a slightly lower-volume, more midrange-focused pickup that is ideal for when you want to lay back a bit with a more subtle groove. And because all three feature ceramic magnets and 43-gauge wire, they stay hum-free.
Unique bridge provides sonic options
Mike Watt prefers a tighter, even string spacing to accommodate his aggressive as well as funky attack, and the Hipshot A Style bridge delivers. And because Reverend knows you like variety, this bridge has been designed to be used as a string-through-body or top-load. If the mood strikes or the style calls for it, string them through for slightly more sustain. Conversely, top-loading your strings will give you faster attack and response and an ever-so-slight decrease in sustain.
