A Streamlined 6-slot 500 Series Rack

Create your ideal signal chain with the Midas Legend L6 500 Series Rackmount Chassis. The 6-slot L6 features advanced audio routing to streamline your cabling, and a beefy auto-ranging universal switch-mode power supply so you can confidently travel anywhere in the world with your favorite modules. The L6 chassis provides I/O connectivity and 48V phantom power for up to 6 modules in a roadworthy steel chassis that occupies just three 19" rack spaces. And if your compressor modules support it, the L6's Comp Bus Link switches even let you link them together for stereo or multi-channel sidechain operation without the necessity of insert cables.

If your 500 Series chassis does double duty in the studio and on the road, you want to minimize cabling issues. Sweetwater gets that. Which is why the L6 will be a welcome breath of fresh air. Midas spec'd the rack with cool audio output link switches that make short work of connecting and rearranging your modules without cable hassles. Simply install your modules in the order you want and the signal will daisy-chain through them without the need for additional cables. Reviews

Excellent Value
I own this Midas chassis, as well as the Bento 6S and Neve R6.
Having those as references, I can say that the Midas is a great value and operates nicely.

Due to the lower price-point of the Midas, I am more comfortable taking it out of the studio for mobile applications and gigs.

The single-button linking options in the back of the Midas are great and save you a lot of cabling if you choose to create a multi-module chain.

Modules fit nicely into the Midas, and are easy to load.
No issues
I haven't had any issues with mine since I bought it. No noise issues. No hum issues. No buzzing. I have mine packed with 6 modules: no spacing issues.

Power is fine. Front switch feels good.

Plus it was cheap.

What's not to like? Buy with confidence and fill it up.

Great for musicians on a budget!
Summary:
Don't let the price fool you. Save your budget for the 500 series units and go for an L6 chassis. It's a super straightforward piece of housing that looks and feels solid for the amount you're paying. With no cables required to chain units together, all you need is an input and output XLR to get yourself started.

In depth:
At first I did a ton of research before buying my 500 series modules and rack. Every time I found myself back at the Midas L6. In terms of space, ease of use, and build quality, I'd really like to give Midas an applause. I couldn't believe that I was able to get a 6-space rack for this price. They included extra screws, as well as an added set of wings for hooking this unit into a rackmount space.

For musicians on a budget who need a simple solution to adding console sound to their mix, you can't go wrong with the L6.
It gives you plenty of possibilities for combining modules without going overboard.

I only started off with 2 units, now I have 4 in the rack.
6 units is a perfect amount of space in my opinion. Starting off with too few means you have to buy another rack, or you have to compensate and change out your modules to accommodate.

I managed to overlook this detail at first, but the main reason I bought this unit is simple: YOU DON'T NEED CABLES TO DAISY CHAIN YOUR MODULES TOGETHER! I kept thinking I needed to purchase XLR cables to patch each unit together. Well guess what, you don't need them!
There are little buttons on the back that will link your modules together in the chain one by one.

Personally the only improvement could have been in the screws. They were a tad bit short, and when screwing in two of my modules, I had a bit of an issue fitting them in due to the screwholes being ever so slightly off. This might have been from the modules themselves, but I ended up switching the torx screws out for standard philips head and I haven't had a problem since. This is the only thing keeping it from a full 5 stars, otherwise there is absolutely nothing wrong with it and I love mine so far.

Thanks to Geoff and the Sweetwater crew for helping me with my purchase and getting it shipped out quickly!

Great First 500 Series Rack
This is my first , and I've found it to be, an excellent step into 500 Series gear. You may see old reviews that this unit was noisy, but the new units have no noise from power section. All my 500 Series components installed easily and the ability to link modules in series saves on clutter and additional cables. Very solid well built rack. The handle plus the rack ears are bonus.

Wish there was a smaller one, but no other complaints
I've read that some people have had noise issues and maybe there was a revision at some point, but I have had no issues with it. I am really sensitive to noise issues, but this thing is so cheap that I figured it was at least worth a shot. Initially, I did notice a bit of EMI bleeding into my signal chain, but it was just because I had this sitting on top of my computer. I moved it and it went down, but it was not completely eliminated. Flipped the ground lift and it went away, eventually leading me back to my UPS, which has been buzzing for some time now. So I guess if I had one negative thing to say, it's that it doesn't have a good filter to clean out EMI from whatever it is plugged into. But I have fixed that buzz at the source and the ground lift further resolves it, so at the end of the day, it's not really a fault of the unit itself. I should also note that the unit does not emit any buzz of its own, it is completely silent. Highly recommended, I don't think you can beat it for the price. I just wish they made a 2- or 3-slot version.
