I’m getting various Buffer error messages or dropouts in Protools LE on my windows XP computer.

1. An incompatible computer ( and/or chipset) is the most common reason for Audio dropouts/Errors. Check
www.digidesign.com/compato for information about PC compatiblity
2. If your computer is compatible:
Go to start menu> run>type ” msconfig “
In MSconfig select “diagnostic startup.”
click “apply” then restart computer.
(you may lose Midi when you do this).
4. Test Protools recording and playback. If it works fine, this indicates that a service of windows is causing your problems.
Go to www.sweetwater.com and enter 29189 into the SweetCare Knowledge base search. This is the Windows PC optimization guide.
I5. If you have the correct (compatible) chipset and MSConfig does not work… reinstall protools. You may want to reinstall Windows.
