How Do I Sync a Beat Loop to a Sequence?
Expansion boards are a great way to add new sounds to your XP-60 or XP-80. The following expansion boards include beat loops (percussion samples that repeat rhythmically):
* SR-JV80-06 Dance Expansion Board
* SR-JV80-10 Bass and Drums Expansion Board
* SR-JV80-11 Techno Expansion Board
* SR-JV80-12 Hip Hop Expansion Board
* SR-JV80-14 Asia Expansion Board
For this example, we will use the SR-JV80-10 Bass & Drums Expansion board in Expansion Slot A:
1. Hold PERFORM and press PATCH.
2. Hold SHIFT and press the number 5 to access the sounds in EXP Slot A (Bass & Drums).
3. Use the VALUE dial to select a beat-loop (Patches 115-128).
4. Press F2 [WG] followed by F1 [WG Prm]
5. CURSOR to
6. Press PERFORM, then press F1 [Common].
7. CURSOR to CLOCK SOURCE and use the VALUE dial to select “SEQUENCER.”
8. Play a key on the keyboard to trigger the beat loop and it will play back in time with your internal sequencer.
Use the following procedure if you would like to use an external sequencer or drum machine to control the speed of the Beat-loop.
1. Press SEQUENCER, then press F1 [Setup].
2. CURSOR to SyncMode and use the VALUE dial to select “SLAVE.” Press EXIT.
3. Press PLAY on the XP-60/80. Now when you trigger the beat loop, it will play back in time with the external device.
