MasterList CD and Split SDII Files
Many of our customers still are confused with the process of bringing Pro Tools split stereo files (a.k.a. mono Sound Designer II files) into MasterList CD for CD authoring. In the words of our tech deity, Max Gutnik: “In order for a split stereo file to be loaded as a stereo pair, each region must have the same name, with ‘.L’ and ‘.R’ endings (i.e. Vocal.L and Vocal.R). You can then select either region in MasterList and both will be loaded as a stereo pair into a single MasterList item.”Editor’s note: It is also possible to perform a “mix to disk” command in Pro Tools where you can generate a stereo Sound Designer II file that is easily imported into MasterList, but I wouldn’t go through this extra step unless there were some other reason for it.
