When loading sounds, samples sometimes get mixed up. The Kurzweil program plays the wrong sound. When loading sounds, samples sometimes get mixed up. The Kurzweil program plays the wrong sound.
There are a number of causes that can result in this behavior:
1. Sometimes people load in more Samples than they have Sample ID#s for. To test this (after you’re having problems), go to MASTER/Object/Move and scroll down the list of User Samples. Look at the ID numbers and see if you’ve used up all available spaces (don’t forget that Basic ROM uses Samples 1 through 199, Orch ROM eats the 900 Sample spaces, Cont ROM uses up the 800 Sample spaces, and Stereo Piano fills 770-799). Remember, when loading lots of samples, keep loading to 200 with Fill. That way you’re using the Sample ID spaces most efficiently. If you load each new
file to the next free Bank you could be wasting many unused Sample IDs.
2. Bad RAM mixed with good RAM allows you to load a certain amount of Samples and then, as you cross the boarder onto the bad RAM, your Samples start going flaky. To test this try loading all the same files in a different order. Are the first ones loaded always working but the later ones always broken? Make sure all your RAM is seated correctly.
3. A corrupted download is always possible, or bad floppies. Try loading each file individually. Do they work now?
4. Incorrect SCSI termination sometimes works; sometimes it doesn’t, as does an incompatible drive (this is mostly a CD-ROM thing though, I just thought I’d mention it).
5. Sample RAM is messed up from a previous error. Remember that one error can result in problems elsewhere in RAM. Nothing beats a Hard Reset to make sure that everything’s the way it should be. Hard Reset (MASTER/Reset yes, yes, yes) and try loading each file again. Watch for the exact point at which you have trouble.

Offer applies only to single-receipt qualifying purchases. Select manufacturers may require that only the manufacturer’s products qualify towards the minimum purchase amount needed to be eligible for promotional financing. Otherwise, an invoice that meets the minimum purchase amount and contains at least one qualifying manufacturer product is eligible for promotional financing. No interest will be charged on promo purchase balance, and equal monthly payments are required on promo purchase until it is paid in full. The payments equal the amount financed divided by the number of months in the promo period, rounded up to the next whole dollar. These payments may be higher than the payments that would be required if this purchase was a non-promo purchase. During the last month(s) of the promo period the required monthly payment may be reduced due to the prior months’ rounding. Regular account terms apply to non-promo purchases. New Accounts as of 07/31/2025: Purchase APR is 34.99%. Penalty APR is 39.99%. Min Interest Charge is $2. Existing cardholders: See your credit card agreement terms. Subject to credit approval.

The estimated required monthly payment shown which excludes taxes and delivery equals the amount financed divided by the number of months in the promo period, rounded up to the next cent. During the last month(s) of the promo period the required monthly payment may be reduced due to this rounding. These payments apply only with the financing offer shown. If you make these payments by the due date each month, you should pay off this amount financed within the promo period, if it is the only balance you are paying off. If you have other balances on your account, this payment will be added to any other minimum monthly payments.
