FireStation WindowsXP Installation Guide

Requirements
Windows XP installed
FireWire™ (IEEE 1394) Port
Recommended
800 MHz or faster Pentium III or Pentium IV
256 MB or more RAM
Installation
It is strongly recommended that you quit all programs and disconnect all FireWire™ and mLAN™ devices from your computer before running this installation.

mLAN Driver Installation
1. The FIREstation CD should automatially open once inserted in your computer. After the Splash screen pops up, click OK and then click on Install. (if the auto-run doesn’t work then goto the windows folder on the supplied CD and double click “setup.bat”.)
2. The system displays YAMAHA mLAN setup wizard.
3. Choose “Install new board [Driver]” and click Next.
4. Click Next button.
5. If you accept all the terms of the preceding License Agreemet,click Yes. You have to choose “Yes” to install mLAN driver. If you are ready to install mLAN driver ,click Yes. If you choose “No”,the installation will be interrupted.

Installing mLAN application
1. After installing the mLAN drivers, double click on the FIREstation CD in MY COMPUTER and click ok, then install (if the auto-run doesn’t work, then double click setup.bat. The system displays YAMAHA mLAN setup wizard.)
2. Choose “Install new board [App]” and click Next.
3. Click Next.
4. If you accept all the terms of the preceding License Agreemet, click Yes. You have to choose “Yes” to install mLAN applications. If you are ready to install mLAN applications ,click Yes. If you choose “No”,the installation will be interrupted.
5. To install to this folder, click Next. To install to a different folder, click Browse and select another folder.
6. Click Finish to restart your computer. When you restart your computer the system will bring up the new hardware wizard.
7. Click Next button.
8. Browse and select c:\windows\system32\drivers. And click OK.
9. Click Finish.
10. Connect the FireStation.

After connecting the FireStation, the new hardware found wizard will probably run three times. (if you are reinstalling the drivers and software, the computer will not ask you to locate the drivers in C:\windows\system32\drivers)

The Items on the start menu
If you open the Windows Start menu, you will find a YAMAHA mLAN Tool group on the “Programs” submenu. This contains the following items: mLAN Control Panel, mLAN Patchbay, mLAN Control Panel Manual, mLAN Patchbay Manual, ASIO mLAN Control Panel Manual, and Uninstall mLAN.

mLAN Patchbay Quick Setup Guide
1. In the start menu, go to Program Files, then to YAMAHA mLAN Tools and then open mLAN Patchbay.
2. As soon as the program finishes loading you should see 16 item listed in the FROM column and 16 items listed in the TO column.
3. Right click on the first Yamaha item in the FROM menu. You will then move your cursor through PRESONUS/Module then mLAN-FIRESTAT to xxxx (this number changes from unit to unit) and then to INPUT 8 and left click.Repeat step 3 for all 16 items listed. NOTE: This setup can be sped up by holding down Ctrl and Shift while selecting the appropriate item from the list.
4. Click the APPLY button now to apply the changes that you have made.
5. Click on the MIDI tab and repeat step 3 for the two MIDI connections.
6. Hit APPLY to apply the changes.
7. Click on the WCLK tab. You should see the YAMAHA mLAN WinDrvr listed under the MASTER column. The Firestation should be directly across in the SLAVE column.
8. At this point we recommend that you save this PATCHBAY configuration on your desktop for quick setup after rebooting.

mLAN Control Panel Quick Setup Guide
1. After setting up the PATCHBAY, in the start menu, go to Program Files, then to YAMAHA mLAN Tools and then open mLAN Control Panel.
2. The appropriate sample rate should be displayed under SAMPLE (either 44100 or 48100). The SEND and RECEIVE buttons should both be checked. The following items should be checked:
SEND
Isochronous x (this number changes from unit to unit)
Audio Sequences 8
MIDI Sequences 1
Buffers * (this number can be changed to decrease latency)
Buffer Length * (this number can be changed to decrease latency)
Interface Type – WDM should be unchecked
Audio Type should be set to Raw Audio
RECEIVE
Isochronous x (this number changes from unit to unit)
Audio Sequences 8
MIDI Sequences 2
Buffers * (this number can be changed to decrease latency)
Buffer Length * (this number can be changed to decrease latency)
Sample 44100 (unless you have the sample rate set to 48000)

You should see circles or dashed lines next to each of the items listed under Sample under RECEIVE STATUS. This indicates that the FIRESTATION is active and that it is sending and receiving data.
