Cofounded by Carl Orff
Studio 49 was born from the friendship between composer and music educator Carl Orff and engineering student Klaus Becker-Ehmck in the early 1940s. Guided by Orff’s vision and instructions, Becker-Ehmck began crafting the world’s first Orff instruments, laying the foundation for what would become Studio 49.
