My previous review said this doesn't work, and that I should have learned my lesson and not purchased further IK MM products. This actually works well, the issue was an iOS update issue, aU3 vs. Interapp Audio, and other fancy stuff that cavemen like me don't understand.

This products is actually very good for what it is intended for. Sure, it doesn't have weighted keys, and I wouldn't throw it out of a 10 story window and expect it to keep working, but it works well for my travel-time record-on-the-go needs.

Instead of steering clear of IK MM products, I should steer clear of posting on the internet. I get a little T.O.'d from time to time like Kip Dynamite.

This keyboard is working out very well for me. As a guitar player, I was having trouble with my other keyboard even though it was a good brand. A Korg pa600, and the short comings were mine, not the board, and the learning curve too much for me. The iRig has simplified things so that I can get back to playing instead of reading manuals. A more experienced person might not like this, but for a novice keyboardist like me, it's heaven. The one problem I had was Irig had poor support for the cool software that came with this keyboard. That's where Sweetwater came in. Your tech support had me up and running in minutes. I definitely will purchase from you guys again!

I started taking piano lessons three months ago. When at home practicing is a short walk away to my man cave, but when we travel no practice. No practice no improvement.

This little keyboard is portable with optional bag and it plays with iPad or IPhone on Garage band. As a beginner most of my playing will be within three octaves.

The people at Ik Multimedia are incredible. They are responsive and made it easy to take advantage of the free gooseneck microphone promotion. Upon buying the carrying bag, they gave me all the software licenses and $5 discount.

The features that I like about the iRig Keys I/O 49-key MIDI controller is that the feel of the keys is very natural to touch and press, the dials and buttons are easy to use, the instructions are easy to understand, there are nine free downloadable software apps on the IK website, and the audio interface is a great add-on feature. The interface actually saves a person from having to buy another $ audio component, but that is probably reflected in the higher price of this controller compared to ones with similar features but with no audio interface. I watched many YouTube videos about this MIDI controller and other ones before deciding to buy this one.

One unusual feature on this controller is the cable connecting the controller to the computer. The cable has a mini-sized round MIDI connector on the controller side rather than the Type B block connector like you would see on a printer USB cable. In other words, it is a proprietary cable. Also, it is only 26" long. That means the MIDI controller and the computer/iPad/iPhone need to be located close by each other. I would have liked a 36" or even a 48" cable length instead.

Before buying this IK Multimedia MIDI controller, I had tried out a traditional MIDI controller (Nektar Impact GXP49) with the two wheels on the side. That added 5 more inches to the length of the whole assembly (32" vs 27"). In addition, the Nektar MIDI controller weighed almost twice as much (9 lbs vs 5 lbs) and the feel of the keys was not good. With that said, I recommend the iRig Keys I/O 49-key MIDI controller.
