Mix From Anywhere in the House

Built-in Wi-Fi and tablet integration for unprecedented mixing mobility

Behringer's XR18 gives you the ultimate in mixing mobility. Imagine always being able to mix from the most advantageous spot in the house! The XR18 acknowledges the reality of modern live mixing — that you don't want to be tied down to a fixed front-of-house mix location. Integrated Wi-Fi gives you remote control over the mixer's functions from your tablet or laptop without needing to set up and configure an external router. Now you can focus on your mix, moving around the venue to experience what your audience is hearing at any place in the auditorium. Tweak the mix from the balcony. Adjust the monitors from the performers' perspective. This is live mixing the way it should be — natural and intuitive. The result will be better-sounding shows!

  • Mix from anywhere in the venue
  • Instant wireless for your tablet or laptop
  • Complete remote control over mix functions
  • No need to set up and configure an external router

Let the Performers Mix Their Own Monitors

Compatibility with Behringer's Personal Monitoring System

The XR18's wireless capability makes it easy for you to modify a monitor mix from the performers' onstage perspective, but why not let the musicians mix their own IEMs or floor wedges? The XR18 features an Ultranet port for easy audio routing over Cat 5e cable to other Ultranet-compatible gear. Compatibility with Behringer's P16-M Personal Monitoring System means you can concentrate on whipping up a killer house mix and leave the monitor mix to the performers (trust us, they'll thank you for it). Now that's smart mixing! With 16 channels of personal monitoring, plus six aux sends to feed stage wedges, delayed mixes, or secondary rooms, you have it covered. If you've got big stadium gigs booked, then you'll be glad to know that you can easily integrate the XR18 into a larger setup using its Ethernet port to connect to a wired network or a monster router.

  • P16-M Personal Monitoring System compatible
  • 16 channels of personal monitoring
  • Six aux sends to feed stage wedges, etc.
  • Ethernet port connects to wired network

Pristine preamps, ultra-wide dynamic range, and more

With 16 Midas-designed mic preamps and 40-bit floating-point DSP that delivers virtually unlimited dynamic range with no internal overload and vanishingly low latency, the XR18 delivers impeccable sound quality — the same as Behringer's acclaimed X32 digital mixer. The XR18's preamps are fully gain-programmable and remote-controllable from your iOS or Android tablet, for nearly unlimited flexibility in a live show situation. Because applications are loaded to the specific device, you can prepare your channel layout offline while sitting in the tour bus before a show.

  • Fully gain-programmable, remote-controllable preamps
  • Applications loaded to specific device
  • Facilitates offline pre-production

Comprehensive Channel Processing and Routing

Features that will make you a sound-mixing hero

With so many variables beyond a mixer's control, Sweetwater knows just how challenging mixing a live show can be. That's why Behringer designed the XR18 with smart features that can make you a sound-mixing hero. The XR18's channels are fully loaded, with per-channel low-cut filters, gates, full dynamics (including compression, limiting, expansion, ducking, sidechaining, and more) fully parametric 4-band EQ, and routing to the six aux outputs. When it comes to EQ, the XR18 lets you analyze the frequency content of your tracks courtesy of its 100-band Real Time Analyzer, built into every input channel and then sculpt them with the bus equalizer. With visual feedback built right into the control app, you can see exactly what you need to do, and make fast, surgical adjustments to frequencies that need a boost or cut.

  • Smart features make mixing easier
  • Extensive per-channel processing
  • 100-band Real Time Analyzer
  • Visual feedback simplifies EQ

Studio-quality Effects

Virtual FX Rack with four true-stereo multi-effects processors

The XR18 has an entire arsenal of effects under the hood. The XR18's virtual FX Rack gives you four true-stereo (8 mono) multi-effects processors, including delay, chorus, and dynamics. This engine is beefy enough to simultaneously run high-quality, true-stereo reverbs and 31-band EQ, without the need for additional hardware. Select any combination of high-end simulations of classic studio reverbs such as the Lexicon 480L and PCM70, the EMT250, or the Quantec QRS. The XR18's onboard processing means your computer won't be tasked with additional heavy lifting during a mixdown session with numerous plug-ins.

  • Four stereo multi-effects processors
  • Simulations of legendary studio reverbs
  • Robust FX engine
  • Lightens the load on your computer

Record Straight to Your Favorite DAW

18 x 18 USB interface makes recording effortless

The XR18 sports a fast, bi-directional 18 x 18 USB interface, making the XR18 a powerful digital mixing solution for recording directly to the digital audio workstation running on your iPad or computer. You can see how this arrangement can boost productivity in a live scenario, giving you an effortless, immaculate multitrack capture of the show to take back to your studio for post production. But whether you're capturing a live performance or tracking in the studio, you'll find the XR18 makes it amazingly easy to record great-sounding tracks.

  • Bi-directional 18 x 18 USB interface

Fantastic mixer for small home

I was going to write an in-depth review of this amazing device but after seeing that I would be the 58th reviewer, I will just give a quick summary. The XR18 is super cool. It's about the same size, width-wise, as my Roland CM-220 subwoofer I also got from Sweetwater, and does everything I need for now. The iPad app is very neat, and the Mac app is also very nice. The iPad app is nicer in some ways, actually, as it auto synchronizes and doesn't have the confusing "save" functionality and some buttons like "Utilities" that seem to do nothing. I can just leave it on the floor and forget about it most of the time. I did put an extension cord for the headphones so I don't need to go on the floor to plug in.For background: I've got four devices: two keyboard synths, one synth module, one drum machine. I have an iPad and a Mac as well, so there are 12 of the 16 (well, 18, sort of) ports. I know I'm going to get at least one more thing at GearFest and I might use my old iPad mini as well, so that's 16 ports right there. If only you could chain two of them together. The only nicer thing would have been the Mackie 32 channel... but for whatever reason it doesn't have combo jacks on all 32 ports - so this is the winner.

The Perfect Solution!

Amazing mixer! We needed a mixing solution that allowed us to place the mixer in the center of our group(s) and be able to support Main/Monitor mixing while performing. The XR18 is a great solution to what we needed. I spent a couple of hours familiarizing myself with the mixer and iPad and Windows apps...set up the basic functions for live mix and monitor mix...and one day later played a gig using the new setup. Great sound, easy to use, and provided exactly what we needed! I'll be primarily using this for sound support for my jazz combo (vocal, sax, piano/bass, drums) and a big band (17-piece band) that we perform with...and know this is THE SOLUTION we needed!

Great compact mixer!

I'm a professional sound engineer and have used numerous digital consoles as well as the X32 for quite some time. I needed a compact mixer but with lots of power and the XR18 fits the bill perfectly. It sounds great, gives me lots of options, has great EQ, an RTA, etc...The iPad app has a few small hickups but it's still great. I think it's just a great product for the price.

So practical, so versatile!!! GET IT!!

This thing is ridiculously awesome!!! I traded my Allen and Heath ZED 12 FX series mixer to get the Behringer XR18 X Air primarily because I kept running out of XLR channels. I researched all the major competitors in this category and decided on the Behringer XR18 X Air. It was so simple to setup and use, in fact when I received it I tested everything I wanted (for live sound) in under 10 minutes .. it just worked. I used it last night on a gig for the first time and everything worked perfectly except for the USB driver for my Windows laptop (which isn't a mixer issue). I used a Samsung tablet for my interface and that worked great, no dropouts, no issues. I intend to use it also for home recording so that should be fun. Very very excited, very very satisfied! Of course, Sweetwater were great too in helping me complete this transaction! Get it, you won't regret it! Best bang for buck ever!!
