Software Compatibility

Most software is compatible with both macOS and Windows, but check to make sure.

If you're using Pro Tools, AAX plug-ins are what you need. Most other DAWs on macOS support Audio Units (AU) plug-ins, while VST is compatible with many DAWs on both macOS and Windows. Be sure you choose plug-ins that work with your DAW!

Design and Perform Layered Sound Effects Fast

Get to know them!

Building a convincing sound effect usually means tediously stacking layers, but Krotos Weaponiser simplifies the process and brings it all into a single plugin. Drag samples into four dedicated sample engines, blend in three built-in synthesis engines, and the complete design lives on a single track in your DAW, ready to trigger via MIDI. This Basic edition hands you 160 presets and 1,385 samples covering weapons, footsteps, whooshes, magic, user interface sounds, and trailer effects. You can also drag-and-drop your own recordings, turning your personal sound collection into raw material in seconds. With Krotos Weaponiser Basic, building the SFX layers for your next video game, television, or film project is the easy part, freeing your creativity for ultimate sound design customization.

Note: This product requires that you have an iLok account for authorization, although it does not require a physical iLok key. Please contact your Sweetwater Sales Engineer if you have questions.

Shape every layer from one window

Weaponiser's engines are organized into four sections — Onset, Body, Thump, and Tail — so you can shape each stage of a sound on its own terms. A color-coded timeline lets you offset each engine's timing with precision, allowing each section to land naturally and convincingly. Press the Fire button to audition your design, then switch on Burst mode to generate automatic bursts from one-shot assets and adjust the fire rate in real time, a shortcut that Sweetwater's sound designers applaud for creating convincing automatic volleys without copy-and-paste. The three built-in synthesis engines give you another source to draw from, with synthesized layers that blend right in with your samples. Structure, timing, and texture all live in a single window, letting you take an idea from rough sketch to finished effect without ever leaving the plugin.

Made for spotting to picture

Weaponiser plays like a virtual instrument: trigger the entire plugin or individual engines via MIDI, with velocity sensitivity to program or perform precise variations, so repeated hits always sound natural. You can also switch presets without losing sync to your DAW, sparing you from adjusting multiple tracks, groups, or plugins when a scene calls for a different flavor. Additionally, you can process each engine with your own plugins or route it to its own stereo track via multichannel output, keeping every layer separate and ready to mix. With Weaponiser, your sound design keeps pace with the edit, and every hit sounds performed to picture rather than pasted in.

A focused set of presets and sounds

The Basic edition gives you a concise collection of Weaponiser content, from weapon samples to presets that get you started right away. Samples from five expansion libraries — Footsteps, User Interface, Whooshes, Trailers, and Magic — are also included, for sounds far beyond the scope of weaponry. Bolstered by an intuitive interface, Weaponiser features a tag-driven browser that makes it quick to find the right asset, as well as drag-and-drop functionality. With a focused range of samples and the tool kit to make each sound your own, Weaponiser has revolutionized the possibilities of sound design.
