Keeps Unwanted Sonic Reflections Out

Mount Primacoustic's VoxGuard VU on your mic stand and keep room reflections to a minimum. Sweetwater Sales Engineers know that unwanted reflections will ruin any recording in a hurry, causing phase cancellations which ultimately distort the tone you're trying to capture. The VoxGuard VU acts as an acoustic shield while the Plexiglass window lets you maintain a sight line between vocalist and engineer. It features a 15" x 18" curved absorption panel with pressure-release slots to eliminate resonance. An adjustable mic-clamp slider is also included. Perfect for any vocal recording session, the Primacoustic VoxGuard VU is a great solution for keeping the room sound out of your microphone.

Mounting plate not strong enough

Mounting plate not strong enough to hold a shock mount with mic as U87

Good results

The product wobbles, it's ok for starter

Ok for a start

I've had a similar one (without the cutout to read through) for years and it's ok at best; it now takes up room in a gear closet. In order to get it from shaking, I had to rig something for stability and put it on a couple of boxes. Once I did that, it held in place. My biggest issue is that it's not sturdy enough to hold a mic well and there's not much you can do about that. However, if you're just starting out and need inexpensive gear, this is a good start.

Just Ok

This thing looks good and does dampen some ambient room noise, but boy, does it mount terribly. It wobbles and spins on the stand. And it has no adjustment mechanism whatsoever. Once it's on there, the only way to rearrange or re-angle the thing is to take your mic down and re-do the whole thing. Plus, my Telefunken microphone was apparently too heavy for the extension bar. The mic literally bent the bar minutes after putting it on. What a joke. Just a total novice piece of gear. The wobbling makes me nuts. The whole thing feels jerry-rigged.
