The Most Sought-after Tube Screamer
A painstaking re-creation of the 1979 "narrow box" Overdrive Pro TS808, the Ibanez TS808 35th Anniversary overdrive pedal uses the same JRC4558D chip as the original, giving you truckloads of authentic Tube Screamer tone. Built like a vintage MXR pedal, the 1979 TS808 had a removable bottom plate and no plastic battery cover. Also, the 1979 TS808's Level knob was labeled Balance, and its external power jack was next to its input jack. Nonetheless, the 1979 TS808 still gave you that unmistakable Tube Screamer overdrive that is part of so many legendary guitar players' signature sound. Since you can find a Tube Screamer in nearly every guitarist's rig here at Sweetwater, we're very enthusiastic about the Ibanez Overdrive Pro TS808 35th Anniversary overdrive pedal!

Same analog circuitry as the original for authentic TS808 toneOften used to push a tube amp to its breaking point, the Ibanez Tube Screamer is a rather mild effect, as far as distortion pedals go. The original Tube Screamer was the green Overdrive Pro TS808, which was available in 1979 (mostly to markets outside of the USA) and was shipped in a narrow box. These pedals were built like a vintage pedal, with a removable bottom plate and no plastic battery cover. Also, the 1979 TS808's Level knob was labeled Balance, and its external power jack was next to its input jack. Packed with a JRC4558D chip, the 1979 "narrow box" Overdrive Pro TS808 is the most sought after vintage Tube Screamer and can go for astronomical prices on the used market.
Ibanez - a brief historyIbanez began its life in 1908 as the Hoshino Gakki company in Nagoya, Japan; however, the company didn't get into the guitar business until 1929, when they started importing Salvador Ibanez guitars from Spain. In 1935, Hoshino Gakki began building Spanish acoustic guitars under the "Ibanez Salvador" name, which was later shortened to "Ibanez." Although Ibanez began manufacturing electric guitars in 1957, the company was relatively unknown in the West until the 1960s, when they started producing guitars based on American designs. By the late 1970s, Ibanez had stopped producing derivative guitars and had begun manufacturing the original designs that the company is now known for. Ibanez is also famous for their effect pedals (most notably the Tube Screamer) and guitar amplifiers.
