Stunning power

The Mesa/Boogie Bass Strategy Eight:88 is about power - tube power - and lots of it. With eight KT88s under the hood, the Bass Strategy Eight:88 generates 465 watts of stunning, stadium-filling volume. And remember, these are tube watts - they're much louder than equivalent solid-state watts. Impressive, but Bass Strategy Eight:88 is also a world-class tone monster.

Monster tone

Mesa/Boogie's Bass Strategy Eight:88 head not only serves up amazing bass tone, but it also gives you the tools to shape it to achieve your signature sound. This head has three 12AX7s in its wheelhouse, along with massive tone-shaping mojo. You get a gain control, active bass, passive mids, active treble, a 5-position active mid-voicing switch, and, of course, a master volume. But there's much more (including a footswitchable, assignable, or bypassable 9-band graphic EQ). No wonder it's called the Bass Strategy.

Amazing versatility

The Mesa/Boogie Bass Strategy Eight:88 is one of the most versatile bass heads we've seen. Take its footswitchable solo level control. With this nifty feature, you can nail the perfect volume for your dolo with a tap of your foot. Speaking of your foot, the Bass Strategy 5-button footswitch (a highly recommended option) sports buttons laid out ergonomically in two rows. And to prove Mesa has their thinking caps on, there's even a second tuner-out jack on the footswitch! There's more, including fixed bias for consistent, maintenance-free performance, a balanced XLR line-out, and multi-impedance speakON-1/4" combo outputs. But you really must experience the Bass Strategy Eight:88 for yourself. Get a taste of what playing through a world-class bass amp feels like. It's addictive.

Fantastic tone!

The Mesa Boogie Strategy Eight 88 has the best tone I've ever heard. Whatever the room you are playing needs you can shape the tone to fit. It just flat sounds GREAT! Just get it. You won't be disappointed.

Tubes, Power, Versatility

After playing an Ampeg for 15 years I decided it was time for an upgrade. This head is everything I've ever wanted out of an amp. Tons of headroom in terms of both power and tone. Currently running it through an SVT4x10 & SVT15 and it sounds huge, even @ 250 watts. Thank you Mesa, and thank you Sweetwater!

This is my very first Mesa Boogie amplifier that I have ever owned. This thing is no joke; its the real deal. I can trim out any tone I want with this thing flawlessly, and still feel I've only scratched the surface of its capabilities. The ability to select one of three power options really allow one to push the amp properly for the situation: Studio, Live, Rehearsal. If you have the means to get this amp, don't hesitate: you will be very satisfied indeed.

Mmmmmm Tubes!!!

As a guitarist turned bassist there's one thing I've always missed, TUBES! I've always been in that rut of being a guitarist that's playing bass for now so I've never gotten serious about having an awesome bass rig, but now I've gotten to the point that I'm happy playing guitar or bass but no matter which one I'm playing I want it to sound great. Not okay, not good, I want the tone to be awesome. That's where this amp comes in, I honestly don't think you can make this amp not sound good (if you can you'd really have to work at it). I haven't even gotten down to tweaking with the graphic EQ yet and I've already got tone far better than what my previous rig ever got after endless tweaking. Between the Voice control and the BMT controls you can pretty much get whatever you're after (which is why I haven't even messed with the graphic yet) add to that 3 different input options and the graphic and you're in bass heaven. And yes it is plenty loud for anything you would need it to do. The multi-watt is a great feature as well, and even on low power this thing is still plenty loud and retains fullness. This amp has the rich full bass tone I've been wanting and lots of features that some other manufacturers (that have produced bass amps for years and are pretty much the standard for bass amplification) are lacking. If you are looking for a tube bass head you can't go wrong with this or it's little brother the prodigy.

An amazing amp

I think the one of the best features of this amp is the power selector.Run it at low power or half, adjust different gain structures. Lots of fun and plenty of tube power at full with two SVT cabinets strapped to it.If you use multiple cabinet configurations this amp is for you. I bought this amp to replace an SVT I was retiring. Completely satisfied so far.
