An Original Design from the Godfather of Humbuckers!

Seymour Duncan developed its amazing SH-55 humbucking pickup with the help of the inventor of the humbucker: Seth Lover. Thanks to Lover's input, the result was nothing short of pure, iconic, instantly recognizable humbucker tone. True to vintage designs, the SH-55 is not wax potted, and its tone sounds as close to a period-correct PAF humbucker as any attempt to date. There are models available for both the neck and bridge positions. As a matched set, SH-55 pickups make your axe sound as if it were transported in time from the late '50s. Matched with any number of other excellent pickups, your Seymour Duncan SH-55 humbucker will open up whole new worlds of tone.

Seymour Duncan SH-55 Features:

  • Designed in collaboration with Seth Lover, the original inventor of the humbucking guitar pickup
  • Standard spacing
  • Built to vintage designs without wax potting
  • Aligned for use in the bridge position (neck-position models also available)

Pick-ups
Great sounding pic-ups. Smooth buttery soond, great for blues and clean rock. Gillmore type sounding music, very happy.
wonderful, just wonderful
I dropped a set of these into my latest build (jazzmaster style, swamp ash body). I used a 250k volume pot and a blend pot (no switch). I'm playing through a fender twin II and an orange Tiny Terror.

These are great sounding pups. They are clean and very articulate. They are extremely responsive to playing dynamics. When played through a higher gain amp they become everything you want or need. For the record, these are a medium hot pups so they are not a great nu-metal pup. That said, they are awesome for jazz, blues, classic rock, and old school metal.

As usual Sweetwater was great. The right price, great service, fast delivery. What more do you need. I have made umpteen purchases (I counted) from Sweetwater and have never had an issue.

Love the Lovers
I put a set of Seth Lover's in my Les Paul and was blown away by how much better it sounded. I play mainly through a Vox AC30. These pickups really respond to your volume control. They clean up when you back it off, then get mean when you go all out. I think I'll keep them... : )))
Music background: Playing various types of music live for 30 years.
Duncan Seth Lover Pac
It' replaced a 57 classic and I am still dialing it in. More high end than I expected but good overall response.
Music background: Rock amateur
