Software Compatibility

You'll need an iLok copy protection device in order to use this software. If you already have one, you're good to go. If you don't, you can buy one here. An iLok is a small USB gadget (about the size of a thumb drive) that plugs into your computer. It "unlocks" the software, allowing you to use it.

Most software is compatible with both Mac and Windows computers, but check to make sure.

If you're using Pro Tools, AAX plug-ins (or RTAS for older versions) are what you need. Most other Mac DAWs support AU plug-ins. VST is compatible with a number of Mac and Windows programs. Be sure you choose plug-ins that work with your DAW!

Get ready to get excited - the Pusher plug-in from Kush Audio is about to bestow upon you an unprecedented palette of complex transient and harmonic textures. With the Pusher, you'll be able to take ordinary sounds and inject them with a unique, saturated character that ridicules the natural laws of physics. Utilizing analog models of four magnetized metal cores in concert with a plethora of innovative controls, you'll mutate sound into colorations ranging from subtly sweet to freakishly alien! At Sweetwater, we're all engineers at heart, and we love how the Kush Audio Pusher plug-in transforms an otherwise uninspired track into a harmonically rich masterpiece. Twist, mangle, sculpt, savor!

Kush Audio Pusher Plug-in at a Glance:
  • Interactive magnetic cores shape your tone
  • Diode limiter adds punch to your sound
  • Cheat Mode and Preset Manager for simplified operation
Interactive magnetic cores shape your tone

The Pusher features four analog-modeled metal cores - nickel, iron, cobalt, and steel. These virtual cores are charged by what Kush Audio is referring to as a "Flux Drive," which (in geek speak) is likely a reference to the scientific measurement of a quantity of magnetism as it passes through a surface. When a signal passes from the variable Flux Drive through the cores, the cores essentially act as an EQ, each imparting their own distinctive harmonic fingerprint on your sound. A Bias control can then be used to put stress on the cores in order to further shape your sound, which can be blended with the dry signal by means of a Blend control.

Diode limiter adds punch to your sound

After your signal has been mangled by the Pusher's magnetic cores, it's slammed into a virtual diode limiter. Diode limiters, such as the Neve 2254 and the EMI TG12413, are known for their tough, heavy character. The Pusher's limiter utilizes three attack times - fast, medium, and slow, as well as a fully variable release. By employing the diode limiter, your sound will move, pump, and breathe in a radical fashion.

Cheat Mode and Preset Manager for simplified operation

Make no mistake, the Pusher has a lot of controls on its stylish interface. Luckily, there are some built-in tools to help you navigate the Pusher's many parameters. The Preset Manager allows you to select, store, modify, add, and erase presents. There is also a yellow control near the Preset Manager that activates Cheat Mode. Cheat Mode generates labels that explain each of the Pusher's controls succinctly, so instead of trying to learn a complicated interface, you can get right to tweaking!

Kush Audio Pusher Plug-in Features:
  • 4 interactive magnetic cores shape your tone
  • Diode limiter adds punch to your sound
  • Cheat Mode and Preset Manager for simplified operation
  • Magnetic saturation creates tones not possible with analog
  • Unique Transient Enhancing distortions for in your face character
  • Multi-point serial & parallel blend signal flow for more tonal variation
Start distorting, saturating, and sculpting your tone with the Kush Audio Pusher magnetic DSP plug-in!

A unique color box

I love this plugin. I'm always adding a mangled parallel track to my rock drums compressed to death and distorted. I like decapitator and devil lok but I feel like you can just creat that sound on your own with a mix of plugins every daw consists of but pusher has it's own distinct soundS (plural). Pusher isn't just for drums either, ads color to any genera of vocals, bass, you name it. Pusher has a bunch of presets as a jumping off point or else you can tweak for days, I'm so glad to have this.

A Rare Gem

Pusher is a truly unique sound shaping tool. I use this for sculpting tone in my drum tracks. This thing is an 808 kit's best friend. A very impressive experience, highly recommended.

Sweetwater Advice

Tyler Berggren

When mixing, I'm always looking for new ways to shape a track. Great compression and EQ can get you a long way, but sometimes I'm looking for something more. Something dirtier... something that sounds like it was running through some analog gear that was on its last leg. I want to take a boring signal, smash it up, and come up with something totally different. That's what Kush Audio Pusher does. It has a unique GUI that took some getting used to, but essentially you get a very hairy brand of saturation and some over-the-top limiting - all with parallel mixing built in. This thing can add weight, sizzle, snap, or fuzz to any track you run through it.
