The Sequential Circuits Prophet~5 didn't just change synthesizer design; it redefined what was possible. Released in 1978 by Dave Smith and Sequential Circuits, it was the world's first fully programmable polyphonic synthesizer, offering musicians five voices of rich, analog warmth that could be saved and recalled at the press of a button. Now, Sequential and GForce have come together to create the official Prophet~5 software instrument. All revisions of the Prophet~5 are represented, including the sounds of the Solid State Micro (SSM) chips used on Rev1 and Rev2, as well as the filter and envelope characteristics of the Rev3 Curtis. The Dual Layer architecture gives you immense sound-shaping flexibility, which the redesigned X-Modifiers augment even further by letting you assign dedicated envelopes and LFOs to almost every parameter for depth and movement not possible on an original hardware unit. Add two selectable FX slots plus an independent arpeggiator and chord modes for each layer, and you’ve now got a virtual instrument that rockets this beloved ‘70s synth into the 21st century.
