Auralex Project 2 Roominator Kit - Charcoal
I converted a bedroom into my drum practice room. The sound was best described as "unpleasant to my ears". I sent photographs of the room, along with a project budget, to Auralex. They prepared a sound improvement layout for me addressing the room's walls, ceiling, corners, and door utilizing their Project 2 Roominator kit and a door sweep. The results are excellent. My drums never sounded this good.

I used 2" long metal "T" pins to install the foam panels - 2 pins for each wall panel, 4 pins for each corner wedge panel, and 9 pins for each ceiling panel. The panels are secure without creating permanent drywall damage.

The kit was purchased through Sweetwater. As usual, their customer support was phenomenal. We discussed installation methods prior to my purchase. They kept me up to date with shipping information after my purchase. They also called me after receiving the product to see if I had any questions or concerns.

My experience with the Auralex product and with Sweetwater's service was excellent.

Fantastic acoustic treatment!
Robert Koch set me up with the folks at Auralex and they did an analysis of my little studio. I went with their suggestions and could not be happier about it.
Thanks a million!!

Worth every penny
These were recommneded to me by the Auralex team. And I love them. My room acoustics is a lot more flat than it used to be, which is a really good thing. The reverb in that room was alot worse than I realized until I heard the room treated.. Wow amazing!!

You can get a customized room analysis specifically for your room right off of sweetwater's website. And its sooooo worth it!! I've very happy with what they recommended.

I still have an issue with bass in the middle of my room, but back up 3 feet away from that spot and leaving the speakers in the front of the room, made a huge diffeence. And its something I can live with until I get a bigger room that allow the lower frequency to get to the front without cancellation. I can probably get more bass traps and saturate the back of my room, but I'm on a budget, and I can live with my current setup just find, and I've cranked out some really nice mixes since then..

Absolutely Amazing very worth the price
Hi NIle.

I finished installing my acoustic treatment yesterday, and I'm blown away. My room sounds absolutely amazing!!!! It has a much flatter sound, which I love. I had no idea how much reverb was in this room until I treated it and heard the difference of how my mixes sounded and mixes on the radio really sound. I could hear sooooo much more detail than I've heard before.. I could hear tons of resonances the microphone was picking up on vocal recordings I've done. I mean they were literally right there, staring me in the face, just awaiting corective EQ, which is exactly what I needed!!!

I actually did a trial run of mixing a song I've been working on. Ok usually things sound good in my room, than when I would go to the car, the low end would be muddy and high end would be really bright, and very little warmth. Not this time. I popped open that track and I could hear the lack of warmth immediately, with some EQ and compression to add back that warmth, I was ablle to get the warmth out of my mix I've been looking for the past 6 years I've been mixing!

As far as my low end. Ok, this one is kinda of interesting. Unfortunately I'm still not totally able to get that lowend in the front of the room I wanted, which is where my desk and speakers lie. But here's the interesting part. I found a very "sweet" spot towards the back of the room, not all the way back, probably like 3.5 feet from my desk. The more I treated the room and bass trapped things, the more fantastic that sweet spot sounded. I could hear everything, I mean tons and tons of low end, I could hear the highs clearly, the mids. So basically as a workaround I'm going work from that spot, and leave my speakers in the front where they are. This works well for me. I'm actually working in just my desk chair with my laptop in my lap, 3.5 feet from my desk. For whatever reason, working like this has actually boosted my creativity the past 2 days. Go figure.. lol

Now online I read some sites that side, you need to saturate the entire back wall with specail bass traps that absorb treble and bass effectively. Supposedly that would help clean out the null spots. For some reason I'm skeptical of that, b/c like you said this room is soo small, might be just better to use my sweet spot.

But even with hiccup, I'm very pleased with what was recommended to me.

Thank you guys sooo much.. Will definitely be giving a good review on sweet water!!

Mounting Options
I have used Auralex Foam in several of my studios. I noticed the complaints of adhering to the walls most common.
Just my suggestion: I use 1/2 inch plywood cut to size desired. Frame it with a nice oak trim edge, screw the board to the wall and use "Liquid Nails" in a tube to apply it with a caulking gun and it will never come off.

Although you can remove the foam, cause I have re-used the foam panels as I built my new studio but it will leave glue marks on the back of the foam, but they still do their job.
