Slim Loop Switcher for Packed Pedalboards

Yes, you do have room for an effects loop switcher on your pedalboard — meet the Hotone Patch Kommander four-channel loop switcher. It’s super compact, yet packs four true bypass loops for your effects pedals. And with its two different switching modes, you have all the control you need to switch loops and even full routing configurations on the fly. Factor in a Mute/Tuner mode with tuner output, and amp switching too, and it’s clear the Hotone Patch Kommander loop switcher is one of the most comprehensive — and most compact — effects switchers available.

Four independent, relay-based true bypass loops

The Hotone Patch Kommander loop switcher is designed from the ground up to ensure a pristine signal path all the way through. Each of its four independent, relay-based loops feature true bypass switching to preserve your core tone. And to prevent high-frequency loss, you can engage a switchable input buffer (useful if you don’t have any buffered pedals in your signal path). Even if you have all loops engaged, your tone won’t suffer for it.

Two switching modes

Depending on your needs, the Hotone Patch Kommander loop switcher offers two switching modes. Direct Mode offers instant access to all four loops — stepping on the footswitches will toggle the corresponding loops on and off. Preset Mode features 40 programmable presets, allowing you to customize different combinations of effects loops and recall them instantly. And despite its small size, you can program every aspect of the Patch Kommander right from its top panel.

Hotone Patch Kommander Effects Pedal Loop Switcher Features:

  • Compact effects pedal loop switcher
  • 4 independent, relay-based effects loops with true bypass switching
  • Switchable input buffer prevents high-frequency loss
  • Direct switching mode gives you direct control over each loop
  • Preset switching mode allows you to access 40 programmable presets for custom configurations
  • A/B output for amplifier channel switching
  • Mute/Tuner functionality with independent tuner output

Reviews

Took a little bit to figure out, but works great
The patch kommander does what it says. It does clean up the signal a bit coming in from the allows for some nice loop permutations.
My setup is as follows

Loop1: AC3 acoustic simulator
Loop2: mutron iii, mxr dynacomp, ep boost
Loop3: big muff pi
Loop4: mxr distortion+

The rest of my pedals sit on the in effects loop of my dsl40c when I need them

This patch commander solves a couple of problems for me. My dist+ has no led so now I can keep it engaged all the time and use the led on the patch commander. It allows me to dial in boost and comp when needed for one of my guitars that needs it. It also allows me to play both the acoustic and electric part of Bargain by The Who with by switching between loop 1 and 4 with one press for each change using the presets. I’m looking forward to continuing experimenting.

cons:
1) the input and output are in a funny place when you put it at the bottom of the pedalboard and have pedals in the next row, you get around it, but it’s not easy. They could be in front.
2) the loop jacks are really close together. I had some pancake patch cables, and you cant put two side by side and had to get non-pancake patch cables to get around it (you can use one pancake and one regular)

If you can get around those two minor mechanical issues, the product is well recommended.
Avoid the tap dance!
I have bought two of these now and these work great for non-midi loop switchers. Hotone delivers for the price you pay, for sure. It works great right out of the box the the dedicated tuner bypass works great as a tuner/mute switch.

Best thing you could purchase
This has to be the best item for any guitarist. For years I have fumbled around with my pedal boards constantly rearranging them trying to get the pedals to at least try to work together and now they can.
Music background: Very broad from hobby to stage to studio.
Perfectly Simple
This is the perfect solution to my pedal quandaries. Even without venturing too far from my basement, pedal hum and signal degradation from my pedal addiction sucks. My Deluxe Reissue was sounding horrible from such a lousy signal as well. Boosters put the hum on mega drive. recording at low volume wasn"t possible with a tele and amp and my pedals. This little thing cleaned up everything. Pedals never ran quieter. Could they be quieter? I have no clue, but my basement setup is now off to a new level. Hum is greatly reduced, signal is cleaner and more powerful and the amp sounds way better. I guess you pay more to switch up loop order, but for a simple dude, this has saved me mucho pedalaches. This is a must-have for all pedal addicts.
Switching platform
I figured I'd try this switcher out for the purpose of limiting my tap dancing skills on the pedalboard, I've seen some pretty extensive/ expensive units out there on the market, . I also seen some extremely busy boards as well mine is not that complex but, none the less I bought this patch kommander and I must say it made life much easier especially out on the stage . It can get pretty dark out there but thing lights up nice the buttons are well separated and it's got a buffer built in , very impressive, it even switches my amp head channels clean/ overdrive. All in all works great hopefully it will stand the true test of time . Highly recommend if your a basic 6/8 pedal guy if you have more than than that maybe look at something with more input capabilities.
