Loving every minute of it…
All the way… from Slayer to Deep Purple, Janis… Black Sabbath, Death Angel… love, love, love my RIG! Horns and Skulls

So many stage options
This pedal would have made me more than happy if it only had the infinite rise or fall modes available but it didn't stop there. You get a 4, 8, 10 and 12 stage phaser and a neat step effect when you buy this pedal! This thing is versatile!
In my setup I have this pedal placed before my drives and out of my FX loop, to me it just "works" better there. I'd recommend this pedal to anyone looking for a multi-stage phaser pedal!
Boss phase shifter
Very nice product.
A Desert Island Phaser Pedal
Since I got my PH-3 I've been in hog heaven. I've read complaints on this pedal and I realized that people just complain too much. Everything from forum posts in the early 2000s saying it was "total Boss trash", to, "it's digital so it's junk". And of course the volume drop complaint. There is an issue with this of course, but when you're using it for recording it's a non-issue. A mod to quell this would be nice, but it's not a deal breaker.

This really is a very good "jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none". However I'm here to calm your fears...

My background - I'm a phaser fanatic. I've been using the same USA large box Small Stone for 20 years and swear by it. Before that, I owned the Russian Stone (black box, red letter), when it was the "poor man's NYC". Also in my cabinet : A Script Phase 90, a block Phase 90, a Phase 100, and the Nano Stone. So that's all the classics. My mission was to find a pedal that would do all of it convincingly so I could unload some of my pedals in this crazy pedal market.

The PH-3 will get you 90-95% there. On all of them. Yes, all of them. (That includes Boss' own 80's foray - the PH-2 and PH-1R - I'm telling you it does everything). That extra 5-10% depends on how hardcore you are (or fussy) about your phase tones. Things like...getting the sweep to cascade exactly like my SS big box. Not gonna happen. Even the Nano Stone doesn't do it the same, and the PH-3 actually gets closer. The Res knob is the color for your Small Stone on setting 1. Dial it down to 9:00-11:00 for color off, and anywhere from 12:00 to full for "color on". Turn the Depth and Res down fully for a Phase 90 tone. Then flip it to 8 stage for Phase 100. It's stupid easy. Most people will be completely satisfied if they TAKE THE TIME to dial the tones in. Selecting the Step setting and cranking the Rate and being upset that it's not EVH is not logical.

I paired my precious collection against the PH-3 for 4 hours last night. It gets scary close and I could honestly say it'd be my only phaser pedal if I had to choose one for the rest of time.

People can keep hating on this pedal all they want : "volume drop, digital, BOSS, blah blah" but I'm probably going to buy a backup PH-3. I'm getting rid of all of my other phasers except the 100 and the big boy SS. The campy analog goodness of both of my 1980s pedals are that extra 10% I can't live without - but I absolutely could if I needed to. The most useful swiss army knife phaser pedal you could ever hope to own.

Boss PH-3 - the pedal of the year for me.

Found it!
I've tried several phasers and this is the one for me! It does what all the others do, from subtle to way too much, plus tap tempo and that cool arpegiator thing! Sold.
