A 50-watt Tube Head that Gives You the Full Range of Marshall Tones!

The Marshall JVM205H all-tube 50-watt amplifier head brings you the full range of Marshall tone, from crisp clean to molten roar! The 2-channel JVM205H gives you six modes covering two independent channels with three gain stages, each with its own footswitchable memory. It's a great feature for ultra-flexible onstage switching (via the included dedicated, programmable footswitch unit), plus the 50-watt configuration is great for both stage and studio. Two effects loops, independent reverb for each channel, a speaker-emulated XLR line-out, and two footswitchable master volumes also grace the JVM205H.

Marshall JVM205H 50-watt Tube Amplifier Head at a Glance:
  • Channel switching and more
  • Silence is golden
  • Marshall heritage
  • From glassy to a roar

Channel switching and more
The JVM2 series amps don't simply give you footswitchable channels. You get an entire palette brimming with different degrees of distortion, tonality, and effects. The included 4-way switch has five easy-to-read LEDs, making this rig ready for stage use. It's also programmable, so you can set up different combinations of channel, mode (green, orange, or red), reverb level, effects level, and master volume easily. The parallel/series effects loops are also switchable on/off. Marshall made sure you'll get the most out of this amp, even when you're at the front of the stage!

Silence is golden
When on standby, the JVM2's emulated XLR output is fully operational, allowing you to record in total silence - a godsend for those late night recording sessions!

Marshall heritage
Every JVM2 is made at the Marshall factory in the tonal heart of England. Time-tested, traditional methods of craftsmanship and construction are combined with the latest advances in modern manufacturing technology, ensuring world class build quality and roadworthiness. Internally, the JVM2 circuitry and layout has been kept to a minimum, ensuring the integrity of the guitar tone and an incredibly low noise floor - this coupled with meticulous valve selection and high-tolerance, quality components adds to the all-important reliability factor that is synonymous with the Marshall legend.

From glassy to a roar
Two completely independent channels sound fine, but this amp gives you so much more than that! Each channel features three footswitchable modes: green, orange, and red. These modes give you different voicings and levels of overdrive ranging from pristine clean to super-saturated, harmonic-drenched, sustain-for-days distorted. Of course, the beauty of this configuration is that you can easily dial in these tones and everything in between and access them with the touch of a footswitch.

Marshall JVM205H 50-watt Tube Amplifier Head Features:
  • 50-watt all-tube amp head
  • 2 totally independent, footswitchable channels - clean/crunch and overdrive
  • Each channel has three footswitchable modes - green, orange, and red
  • Each mode has switch memory (reverb on/off, effects loop on/off, master volume 1 or 2)
  • Footswitchable, studio-quality digital reverb
  • Independent reverb controls for both channels
  • 2 footswitchable master volumes
  • 2 effects loops - 1 series and 1 parallel/series
  • Parallel/series effects loop is footswitchable on/off
  • Speaker-emulated XLR line-out
  • Programmable 4-way, 5-LED footswitch with memory capabilities
  • All switching can be done via MIDI
  • MIDI in and MIDI thru jacks on rear panel
  • Celestion speakers in combos
  • Made in England
The Marshall JVM205H gives you tone for miles and amazingly flexible control!

The King of Kings!

I absolutely LOVE this amp. I've always been a huge Marshall fan, but they never were as versatile as I wanted them to be. Many years and MANY amplifiers later, I had the opportunity to buy a JVM and had to get it given it's reputation. This amp does everything, and it sounds awesome doing it! I totally understand the hype.

Loving this Marshall amp!

I waited way too long to buy this amp.

Best sounding amp I've ever owned. Hands down.

All the sounds that were trapped inside my head are in this amp.

The clarity and and articulation this amp delivers is spectacular. 2 channels, 3 voicings per channel, assignable master volume and a great sounding reverb too. Lord have mercy!! @50 watts, this is definitely more power than I could ever imagine needing.

Also a shout out to Stuart Niven and his sales support team. Stuart always hits the mark. An exceptional pro in every way as is each member of his support team. Needed to arrange a FedEx pickup since I not able to be home on the expected delivery date. They guys set that all up as soon as I inquired, the pickup at FedEx went smoothly as well.

I'm extremely pleased with this purchase.

Marshall JVM205H is awesome!

I used to own a Marshall JCM800 and loved it. For some reason, I had a lapse in reason and sold it to be a Line 6, which is a very good amp. I have missed my Marshall and have been wanting to replace it. When I saw the Black Friday deal on this Marshall which was phenomenal, I knew it was destiny. This thing sings. Beats my old JCM800 to pieces. This is my favorite amp now. Thanks Jim Marshall, Matt Stainaker and Sweetwater!
Music background: Guitarist for over 50 years. Currently play in 4 bands. Own a 64 track studio and am recording with two of the bands and “gigging” with three.

Flexible yet simple. Full, not loud.

This amp does it all without pedals, and it's very easy to configure and operate. I run mine through a Marshall 4 x 12. My fear was that it would be way too loud to be usable, but as a master volume amp, it's very easy to get even high gain sounds at reasonable volume levels. The reverb is outstanding too.

Supreme Rock and Metal Beast

The Marshall JVM 205H has to be one of the best rock and metal amps ever made. It's simple to use, and does exactly what you need it to.

The distorted tones are very powerful, and this amp has more gain than you will probably ever need. Using a Schecter guitar with Seymour Duncan pickups on the Yellow or Red drive channels, you can set the gain to one notch short of halfway and the chords ring out with great power and sustain, yet still have excellent clarity. The overdrive has a compressed feel to it, almost as if there is a Tube Screamer already built into the circuitry and the low end is super tight for an intense palm muting attack with pinch harmonics that will jump out and take far less effort to produce. On the lower drive settings, the drive channels maintain their tightness and clarity as well.

While the clean channel won't beat a Fender Deluxe Reverb anytime soon, it definitely works and is highly useable considering the JVM is primarily designed for harder music. Fender or Gretsch vintage style guitars seem to really shine here, and also do quite well on the settings where the clean sound starts to break up. The slightly thinner clean sound can cut through a mix with ease and I find it to blend very well with other instruments.

Channel switching is practically silent and I really like the fact that the colored lights (Green, Yellow and Red) are built into the switch itself so you can see quickly see what the button is actually set at. I don't really need to use the footswitch for studio work, but it's very programmable and works great. The built in digital reverb works fine for it's purposes, but if you really want a true spring sound or some other kind of reverb it's best to use a pedal or just add it in the FX loop on a track when recording. For home and recording use, 50 watts should be plenty of volume and I personally cannot see the need for 100 watts or the 4 channel version unless you are really doing a lot of different tones and/or are a Marshall fanatic. This amp is plenty loud and does the job for me perfectly.

But probably what I like most is that the tone knobs are all dead simple, and after setting up the JVM I had a highly useable tone very quickly with only having to tweak the Mid knob ONCE after listening back to a couple of recording tests. The JVM tones just seem to blend well with other instruments naturally. As much as I love Mesa Boogie amps (I've had 5), trying to get the 5 Band EQ on the Mark V or the Mark V:25 just right can be extremely difficult - for me, that EQ just got to be an endless black hole of constant tweaking and adjusting with the tone never sounding just right. With the JVM, I set all knobs to middle position at first and just adjusted them to the right place in a matter of seconds.

I highly recommend the JVM 205H for any rock and metal application, especially studio work. It's perfectly simple to use and the tone is pure rock and metal heaven. I had one of these before and sold it - but that will never happen again! But the JVM has its own tone, vibe, and powerful sounds that makes it a keeper regardless.

NOTE - Extra special thanks goes to my Sweetwater contact Jason for helping me get the amp despite delivery issues I was experiencing. His support and customer service was A+ excellent - Thank you Jason!

What Do Our In-house Gear Experts Think?

Patrick Weaver

The Marshall JVM205 is by far one of the most versatile and affordable tube amps I've played. I love the MIDI functionality, which lets me access advanced settings when I play live. And, at 50 watts, I can hit the sweet spot quickly and easily, whether I'm onstage or recording in my studio.

There are countless "British"-style guitar amplifiers out there, but take it from the lifelong guitarists and tone connoisseurs at Sweetwater, when it comes to Marshall tone, there's nothing like the real thing. We've played them all, from vintage JTM45s and the ultra-cool Plexi reissue to modern handmade masterpieces such as the JVM410. There isn't a model among them we can't recommend with total confidence, and that includes their more affordable models too, like MG, DSL, and Code series amps. Thanks to our tight relationship with Marshall, Sweetwater's always on the cutting edge of their latest designs, custom models, and limited-edition gems. If you want iconic tone from across the pond, you want Marshall, and your Sweetwater Sales Engineer will help you find the perfect one.
