Reviews

Great product!
This is a great product!
I have been using it exclusively since 2012 as a replacement for guitar mics. This box essentially eliminates the need for a mic, preventing any bleed from loud stage noise into the guitar signal.

I started using the JDX while on tour in 2012, when I was struggling with loud stage monitors bleeding into the guitar mic. This box completely solved the issue. I was able to get a direct signal from my guitar amp through the JDX, which includes a great-sounding speaker simulator.

The speaker simulation closely replicates the tone of my amp, and I've used it across multiple monitoring systems—it consistently sounds just like the amp I'm using.

Highly recommended!

Radial JDX48
This is a great sounding piece. Sounds very close to my amp . It worked well on any PA console I have used it with. You should check the 100 - 300 switch to determine correct level to send to the PA console.
Phantom power seems to function as expected on PA consoles (I have used 3 different Behringers, and a Yamaha). I had to use the 15v external power supply on my studio gear (Presonus Firestudio Tube Interface - ART Tube Mic Pre). The light on the JDX48 comes on, showing phantom power, but there is no audio signal. Plug in the 15v power supply and it works perfectly.
Suspecting a possible defective unit, I sent back my first one, and got a replacement. I tested the replacement and got the exact same results as the first one. I then contacted Radial tech support, and they said they have only seen this a few times. The only explanation they could give me was that perhaps my recording pieces are not quite supplying 48 volts. The Phantom power on the Presonus and ART pieces work on any phantom power mic I have ever used. ???
No big deal, and they do include a 15v power supply.
Once again, The JDX48 sounds great, but I was a bit disappointed that I had to use the external power supply to record.

Problem solver
A very well made and well designed piece of gear. While intended to eliminate the need for close mikes, I use the JDX48 to generate a line level signal from a favorite combo amp without a DI or FX loop. Inserted between the amp and the speaker, it gives me the full sound of the amps power section in a line level signal that feeds my stereo effects. I then send the stereo outputs to a power amp and speaker cabs. The effect is startling with the dry combo amp and the stereo effects amplified separately. The ground lift and phase switches are all pluses that make the JDX even more useful. I'm sure it functions very well as a DI for live sound too. Great box.
Great Amp DI
Very well made, built like a tank. It's very quiet, it reproduces the sounds of my rack(mesa boogie studio pre, mosvalve 500 power amp very authentic. The one thing that I don't like about it is that you cannot turn the cab SIM off. Although the cab Sim which is a 4x10 with a sm57 model it is subtle. it would be nice to be able to turn it off completely if you're going be recording direct and running an IR behind the recorded amplifier. Other than that, this is a great piece of equipment For silent recording with a traditional amp head or using it live in place of a traditional guitar speaker cabinet or amp cabinet.

It's Ok, When It Works
Reliability is not good. This product failed after roughly a year of use. After much back and forth with Radial Engineering technical support, they finally sent a RMA but require me to pay for return shipping to Canada for a defective product. Unacceptable!
