Filter? More Like Audio Funkifier

Great pedal! Have been using this for about 9 months, and It is really just a fantastic envelope filter. Being a bass player, I am very much influenced by Flea and wanted that Sir Psycho Sexy filter. This guy is a bit different than that (I know he uses the Qtron now, but it was the DOD back in the day). However, this thing is insane! The start and stop filters are really just huge ranges of sweep. I put this on my 4x10 and by the time the effect gets to the bottom of the spectrum, the whole house is shaking from the subs! Sensitivity is very self conscious and reacts to almost any dynamic you put infront of if. I usually like my compressor first in the chain, but it was really giving too strong a signal so I had to put this first. All the attacks sound great, and you can even blend in your original sound to get some really low lowend back into the mix. It also has a dry out, and if you connect the effect out to the input and then the dry out to the amp, you get some really weird effects. The exp pedal also lets you manually set the filters attack and decay effects. Distortion in my opinion on this pedal is a must. It was a bit loud from the factory so I had to open it up and set the control pot in the back. The only reason I did not give it a full 5 stars is that you can not use the distortion without the envelope filter on. Also, the sensitivity knob is way sensitive, but duh, that is why they named it that. Been a big electro-harmonix fan for a long time, and this does not disappoint!

I have been using envelope filters on my bass for the past 20 years, but the electro-harmonix Enigma takes the cake! The control and variability of the way the filter behaves on this box takes the concept of an envelope filter to a much deeper level. Many different types of tones are available, and it's optimized for bass so you don't lose any of your low end. The analog distortion also adds a whole new dimension to the traditional envelope filter sound. Whether you're searching for deep pocket reggae sounds, that classic Mu-Tron sound, synth bass tones, or tweaky space bass, this one can do it all!
